And The Award Goes To…

esq-at-jcc2.jpgME! Ok, not really, it went to Esquire Photography, but I needed to be there to receive it. Today, the Barbara & Ray Alpert Jewish Community Center in Long Beach had an award brunch and we received the Chai Award for our continued dedication of nearly $20,000.00 of services and talents over the years.

I had the honour of receiving the award in front of a congregation of about 200 esteemed members of the JCC. I was asked to come up to the stage, receive a certificate and to sign in the Chai Award book. AWESOME!

Over the years, we have donated tens of thousands of dollars in services, products and talent to various organizations throughout the country. This was the first time that our efforts have been recognized - with more than just a thank you letter or a phone call, but with an award during their brunch!

I was chatting with one of my best friends and excellent photographer; Kerry Garrision over at L7 Foto about our award. And we both believe that because of a lack of appreciation and/or recognition - this could be part of a reason why so many companies both big & small have either fallen off with their charitable donations or reduced them. Because once the donation is received, another hand comes out asking for more. We were just hypothesizing, but there could be something there.

We on the other hand at Esquire Photography, don’t think that way as we’re firm believers in giving back to the community regardless of recognition or fanfare. Every year, we continually donate our photographic services, wedding packages, portrait sessions, maternity sessions and more. And just last week I donated my time and spoke at Carpenter Elementary in Downey to a class of 5th graders about their Patriot Pride.

operation-smile.jpgAnd! We’re getting ready to launch our Family Portrait Month in conjunction with Operation Smile! Throughout the world, Operation Smile volunteers repair childhood facial deformities while building public and private partnerships that advocate for sustainable healthcare systems for children and families. Together, we create smiles, change lives, heal humanity. We’ll be donating $25.00 or more from our portrait sessions to Operation Smile during the month of October.

So if you want to be part of something greater than yourself, call us as soon as possible to schedule a portrait sitting. As you know, we’re a boutique company, so we come to you at your home, your office, a park, Disneyland, the beach - wherever your heart’s desire.

I hope you’re having as blessed a week as we are - cheers!

I cannot express how much Marc and I enjoyed working with you. You manage to find such a perfect balance between crazy fun and absolute professionalism. You were so great at keeping it fun while still moving things along when we had a time frame to work with.
