Good morning from caffeinated Huntington Beach California everyone!  I was thinking of some of the old projects that I’ve done in the past & remembered a video that I put together back in the day.

It’s a small sampler of what some of my work had been over the years with fashion, extreme sports and the music industry (there’s even one of my favourites of Duran Duran too).

I used some stock video footage, wrote & made all the music you hear, put some of my favourite photos in & threw a seriously artistic and avant garde edge to it. It’s just over minutes of fun that I hope you enjoy!

Have a fantastic Friday and I’ve got to jam & start getting my game face on for an interview on a reality TV show that I may be on for TLC  – cheers!

mikebiophotoGood afternoon from all over Southern California everyone!  I’m in-between appointments today & just got word from Kerry that the podcast we recorded on Camera Dojo just went live a few moments ago.

This week we sat down with the uber-cool Mike Larson hailing out of San Luis Obispo, California.  During our chat, we covered some good reads he suggested (The 4 Hour Work Week, The E-Myth Revisited & Never Eat Alone) along with the main thread of his podcast being client relationships.  IMHO, this is paramount in any business and I am most impressed with how Mike has built his business to where it is now;  self perpetuating solely on referrals.

Mike’s been around the block and if you ever want to have an in-depth under-the-hood day with him, check out his Seminars – they’re sure to change your life & thus your business.  You just need to be sure to ask him to do his infamous “Camera Toss!”

If you want to listen to the entire conversation we had with him, definitely stream it on Camera Dojo or you can subscribe to the podcast by clicking the button below.

I’m off to my next appointment & have a super West Coast Wednesday – cheers!

Good morning from sleepy Huntington Beach everyone! Thanks for your patience with my posting as I’ve been tidying up EP HQ for Katherine’s return from her nearly 1 month trip to Harvard, Vienna & Philly.

I have been listening to a lot (and I mean a LOT) of my favourite online radio station; Ministry of Sound and one of the more popular dance tunes keeps getting stuck in my head from David Guetta.  It is When Love Takes Over featuring Kelly Rowland.

I love this video and it’s so cool that it’s shot in my old stomping grounds up in Venice Beach.  In fact!  There’s even a scene in the video where you can see the steeple of the fire-pit that was in Graffitti Park that the city of Venice Beach did a “Planet Of The Apes” move & buried it in sand to supposedly keep the transients out of the city.  Bummer!  Cuz it was an awesome place to shoot portraits and I did a TON of inline skating and skateboarding work there for the magazines that I used to shoot for.

So without further ado, I give you When Love Takes Over for today’s West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week – cheers!

Good morning from Huntington Beach, California everyone!  I’m back in from being a camera operator at my church; Sea Coast Grace in Cypress and couldn’t wait any longer to share Kimberly & Christopher’s wedding yesterday down in Mission Hills, California.

Yesterday, I had the honour of shooting side-by-side my good friend; Michelle Smity-Zuniga from Studio Z out of San Diego.  You may remember Sesselia & Gregory’s Wedding down in Rancho Santa Fe that she & I recently photographed together back in March.  Well, she rang me up again & asked if I had anything better to do other than to listen to Duran Duran music yesterday or if I wanted to shoot another wedding with her.  Hmmm… Duran Duran or shoot a wedding.  That was a tough decision, but in the end – I chose to head down to San Diego and photograph Kimberly & Christopher’s wedding with her.  LOL!

Michelle headed over to meet up with Kimberly, while I met up Christopher and his men at their ceremony location – the Mission Hills United Church of Christ.  We were able to get to know each other a bit, capture some fun portraits and candids of their families and friends as they were arriving.  The two church coordinators; Beverly & Diane gave Michelle & I generous freedom to capture Kimberly & Christopher’s wedding – while still observing the sanctuary’s photography limits and not disturbing the guests.

Their ceremony was lovely & immediately afterwards, Michelle was snapping away with some traditional and classic family portraits in the church while I was capturing all the action that was going on with family & friends behind the scenes.  We then left the church with a “bubbly” farewell to head to Balboa Park, where Michelle rode shotgun in the EP Mobile as we followed Kimberly & Chris in the back seat of a convertible Thunderbird taking beautiful portraits as we drove through the city. That was where the romance really started to take place for the portraits!

Balboa Park was a blast and their reception was held at the San Diego Automotive Museum. Their incredibly delicious catering was hosted by The Abbey Catering and DJ Luke from Crosswaves DJ spun tunes to keep nearly everyone out of the seat the entire night.  We even were able to sneak away from the reception towards the end of the night as Michael from the Auto Museum gave us a bit of a tour AND allowed us to incorporate a few of the vintage rides into a bit of an old time romance shoot.   But only after Kimberly & Christopher cleaned up after one of the more outrageous cake smashings I have witnessed in a very long time!

I also want to say that we worked with Tareq from Time Code Media (858.449.3005) and he is totally cool.  So if you need a cool and relaxed videographer for your wedding down in San Diego – definitely ring him up.  I hope you enjoyed the slide show of some of my favourites I captured from their wedding day & have a super weekend – cheers!

0015Good morning from Huntington Beach, California everyone!  So when you’re planning your wedding, if you are like how Katherine & I were – we had a lot of questions and some that we never thought of to ask our various vendors.  Even though I’m in the “biz” – I turned into a complete blonde when we started planning the wedding – it was crazy!

Well as I’m sure you all know, there is a lot of information on the web and my good friends over at Elegala.com have compiled a pretty sweet list of questions that you may want to ask your officiant to determine whether he/she is open to your ideas.

You will meet with your officiant or potential officiants before your wedding to discuss the ceremony and any pre-ceremony requirements – and ultimately decide if the three of you want to work together.  It’s best to come prepared with some qualifying questions.

0038So without further ado, here are a few questions to ask your ceremony officiant & have a super Baby Friday – cheers!

  • Are there any pre-wedding requirements, such as counseling?
  • What is the ceremony fee?
  • Is the officiant open to any personal ideas for ceremony? For instance, is he or she open to non-secular wedding vows, weddings readings or wedding songs?
  • Will the officiant give a sermon or a speech?
  • Will you have input in the ceremony, and will you be allowed to review the sermon or speech beforehand?
  • Are there any ceremony site restrictions such as flash photography, videography, music, dress code, dÈcor, tossing items?
  • What items does the ceremony site/officiant provide, and what must you bring yourself? (pews, isle runners, microphone, etc.)
  • What will officiant wear?
  • What time will he/she be available for rehearsal?
  • Should you bring your marriage license to the ceremony, or will you sign it beforehand?

0009Other Things to Consider Before Hiring an Officiant:

Demeanor – His or her personal demeanor should reflect the mood you envision for your reception. Some are light and jovial—often interjecting sermons/speeches with bits of humor. If you envision a more formal and solemn affair—you may object to this style.

If you don’t already have a relationship with this person—consider whether you like his/her style and whether you would enjoy working with this person. Remember—your officiant performs the most important service at the wedding. He or she is the one who will officially pronounce you man and wife, which is the sole reason for the big event in the first place (don’t lose sight of this!). You should feel comfortable inviting this person to share such an intimate moment in your life.

Your officiant can offer guidance along the way—spiritual and non-spiritual, such as resolving family conflicts etc. Don’t hesitate to speak with your officiant regarding these personal matters.

Consider inviting your officiant to your rehearsal dinner as well. It’s a nice gesture that will be appreciated.
