Good morning from Huntington Beach, California everyone!  I’m back in from San Diego spending the 4th of July holiday with Katherine at the Hotel Del Coronado and wanted to share a special song of mine with you that I heard when we had America’s Got Talent on the tele the other night.

Since I seem to without intentionally doing it – be on a bit of a British Invasion lately.  And it just so happens that today’s West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week is an English alternative rock band. Formed in London in 1997, the group comprises Chris Martin (lead vocals, keyboards, guitar), Jonny Buckland (lead guitar), Guy Berryman (bass guitar), and Will Champion (drums, backing vocals, other instruments).

If you’re familiar with the names of the guys in the band, then I’m sure you’ve guessed that I’m referring to Coldplay.  I looked up a bit of information on Wikipedia about Coldplay & there are so many facts about them that would explain why I totally love their music and their messages in their lyrics.  Check this out…

Coldplay’s early material was compared to acts such as Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, U2, and Travis. They achieved worldwide fame with the release of the single “Yellow“, followed by their debut album, Parachutes (2000), which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. The band’s second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002), won multiple awards, including NME‘s Album of the Year. Their next release, X&Y (2005), received a slightly less enthusiastic yet still generally positive reception. The band’s fourth studio album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), was produced by Brian Eno and released again to largely favourable reviews, earning several Grammy nominations and wins. Coldplay have sold over 50 million records worldwide.

Since the release of Parachutes, Coldplay have drawn influence from other sources, including Echo & the Bunnymen, Kate Bush, George Harrison and Muse on A Rush of Blood to the Head, Johnny Cash and Kraftwerk for X&Y and Blur, Arcade Fire and My Bloody Valentine on Viva la Vida. Coldplay have been an active supporter of various social and political causes, such as Oxfam‘s Make Trade Fair campaign and Amnesty International. The group have also performed at various charity projects such as Band Aid 20, Live 8, Sound Relief, Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief, and the Teenage Cancer Trust.

With that just being the tip of the iceberg about Coldplay, I think that the perfect phrase for their accomplishments would be; Wholly Nachos & Newcastles!!!

The song that I’ve chosen for this week’s West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week is; “Fix You” & it’s performed in Glastonbury.  I think one of the biggest reasons this song is resonating with me is that with the hurdle of losing a friend during my IRS audit for my previous tax preparer’s numerous horrendous mistakes.

And, the reality of taking my business over the pond for the 2012 Olympics or moving to London seems like a rapidly fading ember of a dream as England has made it nearly impossible.  With the new point system and as I don’t have $1/2 million dollars in liquid cash or know someone that has that amount of money and the ability to be a guarantor of Esquire Photography.  It is increasingly becoming more & more difficult to pursue something that I have known all the way down to the root of my soul is supposed to happen.

I’m sure that the haters that would read these thoughts that I’m sharing with you would be relishing in it with resounding “I told you so’s!” or the same nastiness that was expressed about the McTographer idea that I had to help inspire photographers to be original & get away from sameness.  But the sad thing is for them is that instead of bowing down to their hate, I will continually tilt against the windmill of life to work towards realizing my dream and promoting individuality, freedom of expression and being a positive influence.

As I have said before, there are two very powerful quotes that I live by & believe in…

“Pain heals, chicks dig scars, glory lasts forever.” — Keanu Reeves, in the movie; The Replacements

“A Man Can Change His Stars.” — The late Heath Ledger, in the movie; Knight’s Tale

But as Einstein pointed out… for every positive force, there is an equally matched opposite force working against it.  I just need to work harder & smarter to make it happen.

But before I present you with this week’s West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week and you’re thinking… Hey – I’d really like to get to know this passionate Orange County Wedding Photographer that is on the bleeding edge of fashion, music and videos, feel free to contact me anytime.

I’m available just about 24/7 via TwitterFacebook, the form on my contact page, or the old fashioned phone as well at 888.ESQ.PHTO (888.377.7486) or 562.225.5915.

So without further ado, I give you Coldplay’s live performance of “Fix You” in Glastonbury for today’s West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week.  And, don’t just have an awesome West Coast Wednesday, but make it a totally positive one for someone else too – cheers!

PS, I also want to say thanks for spending time on my website as I journey through this crazy life of mine.  I hope that my work, my passion and my travels will inspire you to go out and make this world and yours a better place.

Good evening from what has been a drizzly Huntington Beach, CA everyone!  I hope that everyone had a great 4th of July holiday this past weekend and didn’t blow off to many illegal fireworks.  Or if you did, you know how to do them without blowing off your fingers and hands.  Ahhhh… the memories of bottle rocket & roman candle wars with my two brothers growing up in the midwest.  I would definitely have to say that the kids today got the shorter end of the stick only being able to play with sparklers and those little snaps that you throw on the ground.  Ooh how neat… LOL!

Before I share Patricia & Paul’s wedding at The Muckenthaler Mansion in Fullerton, California (the same amazing place that Katherine & I got married 5 years ago this August!) and you’re thinking to yourself… Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer in Huntington Beach, California that blew stuff up as a kid on the 4th of July – feel free to get in touch with me anytime.

I’m available just about 24/7 via Twitter, Facebook, the form on my contact page, or the old fashioned phone as well at 888.ESQ.PHTO (888.377.7486) or 562.225.5915.

So as I’m getting caught up on my blog after spending the weekend at The Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego with Katherine for the holiday and after the 10 hour Jewelry Photo Shoot on Saturday in Huntington Beach with my amazing client; Stephen Arnold from F & C Creations (who created the new Esquire Family Ring), I really wanted to share Patricia & Paul’s wedding before I wrap up the day.  I even snuck in my Sexy D-Rex in them too.  Hee hee hee!

Patricia & Paul’s flawless wedding day was orchestrated by Ms. Vanessa V. Vazquez from V3 Weddings & Events and my good friends; Duane & Rick from Colette’s Catering Extraordinaire.  Everything from the beginning of the day when Patricia was slipping into her Nina NYC Shoes to the floral arrangement from KI Designs and the cutting of the delicious cake by Colette’s Catering was perfect.  We even scheduled a generous amount of time for me to capture some of my Signature Romantic and Sexy portraits with the sun setting after the ceremony.

The guys from After Dark Entertainment rocked the reception and kept everything moving with a symbiotic marriage of energy and taste that everyone who attended could enjoy.  There was even a fun photo booth with an interactive touch screen from All Star Photo Booths which I managed to pop in & get Some Silly Shots with Patricia & Paul and a fun Series of Photos of me done too!

I could literally keep going on and on about their wedding day, but I thought I should wrap it up here before it get’s too long.  Before I sign off, and you’re considering having your wedding at the The Muckenthaler Mansion in Fullerton – be sure to ask for Mr. Duane Greenleaf or Mr. Rick Martin.  From start to finish and with the help of Vanessa from V3 Weddings & Events and all the top shelf vendors, Patricia & Paul’s wedding day was more like a symphony of elegance and beauty.

So without further ado, here is a slide show that put together of Patricia & Paul’s wedding.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did capturing it & have a super week – cheers!

  • Linda Martin - I’m Paul and Patty’s aunt and was there at the wedding (holding a baby niece much of the time). I love this photographer’s work. If I decide I want to use a photographer, I will definitely keep him in mind.

Good afternoon from Huntington Beach everyone! I’ve been putting together some artist edits from Lizelle & Kevin’s Marina Del Rey Wedding I recently had the honour of being included in.

When I arrived at the FantaSea Yacht Club & boarded the Regency Yacht, Lizelle was in the bridal suite putting the final touches on her makeup and hair by Beauty By Karen along with getting her daily RDA of nutrition provided by one of the more delicious burgers; In-n-Out.  YUM!

Lizelle’s Alfred Angelo bridal gown, seriously sexy fiery hot red Nina Shoes and delicious Flower Bomb perfume by Viktor & Rolf were exquisitely brought together – giving Lizelle the perfect fashion statement for her day.  Kevin & his entourage also arrived sharply dressed in their Friar Tux threads as they greeted everyone when they arrived to board the yacht.  But, I did manage to snag them away for a few minutes so I could get one of my “Don Corleone” portraits of the guys.

Lizelle & Kevin’s ceremony was perfectly lit all around out on the water and with the floral arrangements from Flowers By Appointment Only in Los Angeles giving vibrant splashes of colour all around made for a photographer’s dream come true.  Their wedding ceremony was spot on in length too, which lent us to having a terrific amount of time for the family portraits too.

Immediately after the portraits, Lizelle, Kevin & I headed out to capture some romantic and dreamy portraits around the yacht.  I even caught a cool snap of Lizelle’s dad chillin with some of the bridal party, giving them a bit of some “mobster” look up against another yacht with the palm trees and sun in the background.

The reception was rocked through the night by Brad Mill with Rhythm City Entertainment.  He kept everyone enjoying a veritable cornucopia of music that everyone could enjoy from rock & roll to hip hop and dance rock.  Some of the bridal party was representing their finest moves on the dance floor which I totally had to capture in print.  You’ll see some awesome moves in the video I’m sharing of their wedding too.

From the beginning of Lizelle & Kevin’s day to the end of the night when we headed out for us to rock my Signature Night Romantic portraits by the water, so many memories & great times happened for me to capture.  The candid portraits when Lori & her ladies were getting ready over some In-n-Out, the dreamy & romantic portraits we did after the ceremony and the moving toast that Kevin’s brother gave that didn’t leave a dry eye in the house.

I also want to send a special shout out to Ms. Jasmine Lee, the General Manager for FantaSea Yacht Club (T: 310.827.2220).  Because of her impeccable desire for excellence and attention to detail, Lizelle & Kevin’s wedding day was perfect in every way.

But before you check out Lizelle & Kevin’s wedding at the FantaSea Yacht Club in Marina Del Rey and you’re thinking to yourself…  Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer in Huntington Beach, California that wants to enjoy life to the fullest, feel free to get in touch with me anytime.

So without further ado, here is Lizelle & Kevin’s wedding in a slide show that I put together.  I hope you’re having a great start to your extended holiday weekend & come back by soon for some more yumminess I have to share with you – cheers!

Good afternoon from Huntington Beach everyone!  I’m about to head out for a consultation & wanted to share a very exciting moment in my life.  Recently the PPA (Professional Photographers Of America) reached out to me to see if I had a special couple that I had the honour of working with that they could interview.

The basis of their article was to share with other brides and grooms why it’s important to hire a professional photographer for their wedding.  Having been on both sides of that fence being a professional photographer and having had my own wedding as well.

The PPA had a terrific chat with Anna Marie about her experience with me for their Los Olivos Wedding at the Firestone Vineyard that I had the honour of being a part of back in October last year.  And as fate would have it, the PPA decided to use Anna’s interview in the upcoming issue in July.

I’ve included a copy of the tear sheet that I received this afternoon, but definitely feel free to enjoy the article on the PPA’s Website as well.  If you’re a PPA Professional Photographer, just use your login credentials or you can register to read the full article.

But before you check out the interview with Anna Marie about the importance of hiring a professional photographer, and you’re thinking to yourself… Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer in Huntington Beach, California that shoots weddings all over from OC to LA to Ventura and up at the Firestone Vineyard in Los Olivos.  Feel free to contact me anytime.

I’m available just about 24/7 via Twitter, Facebook, the form on my contact page, or the old fashioned phone as well at 888.ESQ.PHTO (888.377.7486) or 562.225.5915.

I hope you are having a great Baby Friday & stay tuned for some delicious photography from Lizelle & Kevin’s wedding I had the honour of photographing on a yacht up in Marina Del Rey – cheers!

PS, you may recognize the beautiful photo of Anna Marie in the article because Anna Marie is blowing a delicious kiss in a photo in my header slide show on top of my website.
