Newport Beach Wedding Photographer / Beastie Boys / Huntington Beach Wedding Photographer

Good morning from Newport Beach everyone!  As I’m sitting here at my desk sipping on my morning coffee thinking about some of the weddings that I’ve been photographing and the music that has been played at the receptions – it seems that a lot of people are really enjoying some of the classic hip hop, rock & dance music.  So when I thought of what I wanted to share with you today for this week’s West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week, I thought – hey, how about some classic hip hop.

Well… it just so happens that one of my favourite hip hop groups has a new album, single & video out and I just had to share it with you.  They’re a trio out of New York City and have been around for what seems like ages as I’ve been following them since the 80’s but to others that just discovered them, they’re totally brand new.

The hip hop group that I’m referring to is the Beastie Boys.  If you’re not too familiar with them, check out their history that I picked up on Wikipedia, it’s awesome!

“Beastie Boys are an American hip hop trio from New York City. The group consists of Mike D (Michael Diamond)MCA (Adam Yauch), and Ad-Rock (Adam Horovitz).

The Beastie Boys began as hardcore punk band in 1979, first appearing on the compilation cassette New York Thrash before releasing their first EP, Polly Wog Stew, in 1982. After achieving moderate local success with the 1983 release of their experimental hip-hop” Cooky Puss, they made the transition to hip-hop in 1984 and a string of successful 12″ singles followed by their debut album Licensed to Ill in 1986 which received international critical acclaim and commercial success. As of 2010, they have sold 22 million albums in the United States and 40 million albums worldwide.

They are one of the longest lived hip-hop acts worldwide and continue to enjoy commercial and critical success in 2011, nearly 25 years after the release of their debut album. On September 27, 2007, they were nominated for induction into theRock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2009, the group released digitally remastered deluxe editions of their albums Paul’s BoutiqueCheck Your HeadIll Communication and Hello Nasty. Their eighth studio album, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, was released on May 3, 2011, and received positive reviews.”

Just that little bit of history about the Beastie Boys is totally impressive!

PS, Here is a quote that I thought I would share with you from the Above & Beyond performance that I just experienced at Sutra Lounge in Costa Mesa: “No Dream Is Too Big” (I shared some pictures & videos on my personal Facebook page – check ’em out!).  Above & Beyond had that up on a screen along with a lot of others throughout their performance & happened to jot that one down when I was down on the dance floor with the couple thousand other fans.  It really spoke to me & I had a feeling that it would speak to someone else as well.

PSS, Thanks so much for your patience with a lot of the events that I’ve been shooting and not able to get online as quickly as I prefer.  There’s quite a bit of growth happening with Esquire Photography and I’ve recently needed to bring on a Business Manager to give me more time to take care of the weddings and events that I’m photographing around Newport Beach, San Diego and Ventura.  But my regular blogging schedule will resume VERY soon.  Thanks!
