Where In The World Is David Esquire?

Good Evening Everyone!  Thank you so much for your patience with my sporadic blogging over the past 7 weeks.  Ever since I left for WPPI, my life has been beyond busy.  On March 4th, I photographed Angela & Mike’s wedding at the Wedgewood in Ventura & left for Las Vegas to shoot and attend the annual WPPI event.

Once I returned, that’s when things took a turn for the crazy.  The McTographer T Shirts took off, I had my “workation” in Hawaii – hosting my Iron Sharpens Iron Workshop & taking a bit of a retreat.  But as if things weren’t topsy-turvy with all the time I’ve been spending out of EPHQ and when I’m here – shooting weddings, portraits, special events for The White House Event Center and the first prom of the season – I needed to deal with good ol Uncle Sam breathing down my back.  Yes, you read that right, Uncle Sam wearing his IRS hat.

The week of Christmas 2009, Katherine & I received letters from the IRS that we were being audited.  Merry Christmas – huh!!  Well as it turned out our previous tax preparer really did a number on my 2008 return (which since I’m not a professional tax preparer, I didn’t see or catch), thus triggering the IRS to come do it’s shake down of Katherine and I.  This has led us to spending countless hours and thousands of dollars on a new tax preparer and his paralegal helping us repair what the previous preparer messed up.  We’re nearing the end of shakedown and we’re hoping and praying to come out of it without any broken knee caps or fingers cut off.

At first, I was truly mortified and embarrassed to share this with you as I felt like a common criminal, but over the past 4 months, I’ve been coming to grips with it.  That it’s my old tax preparer’s fault for the errors and that I just needed to chalk it up to a really Really REALLY expensive learning experience.  One that I hope I NEVER have to go through again too.

So that’s basically it.  Lots of shooting, T Shirts, travel, teaching and a gnarly learning experience.  I really want to thank you so much for your kindness and patience with my blogging and I’ll be doing my best to get back on track.

PLUS I have like 5 weddings, my workshop, video testimonials, my iPhonography from Hawaii and so much more that has happened over the past month 1/2 that I want to share with you.  So stay tuned & have a super rest of your Baby Friday – cheers!

PS, I’d like to send a shout out to my friend & fellow shooter; Scott Jarvie for capturing the really cool portrait of me at the end of WPPI that I used in this posting.
