Good Evening from Huntington Beach, California everyone!  It’s Monday night and as I’m getting caught up on all the blogging that I’ve been dying to share – I have a treat from Rachel & Adam’s wedding that I shot just a week before my calendar had a nuke dropped on it with WPPI, my Iron Sharpens Iron Workshop in Hawaii and the more than 1/2 dozen other weddings & events I’ve been shooting.

Now that things are settling back to “normal” and my calendar is starting to look a little less like a graphic EQ for Metallica – I’m able to share Rachel & Adam’s wedding that I photographed at the Alta Vista Country Club in Placentia, California.

Before I share Rachel & Adam’s wedding and you’re thinking… Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer in Huntington Beach, California that has a pretty gnarly calendar from time-to-time,  feel free to Contact Me on the Website or send me an email direct at david@esquirephotography.com.  You can also stay in touch with me in “real time” on Twitter, Facebook and my Facebook Fan Page too.

There were so many people involved in Rachel & Adam’s day, that I thought I would jot them down in a list for you.  Check this out…

Rachel & Adam’s family took me in like I was one of their oldest friends.  I even made a new Newcastle friend too – Sara.  She held an ice cold Newcastle beer aside for me that I could enjoy with her at the end of the night in celebration of a fantastic day.  That was seriously cool of her & definitely meant a lot to me.  Thank You!

So without further ado, here is Rachel & Adam’s wedding in a little slide show that I put together and I hope you are having a great start to your week – cheers!

Good Evening Everyone!  Thank you so much for your patience with my sporadic blogging over the past 7 weeks.  Ever since I left for WPPI, my life has been beyond busy.  On March 4th, I photographed Angela & Mike’s wedding at the Wedgewood in Ventura & left for Las Vegas to shoot and attend the annual WPPI event.

Once I returned, that’s when things took a turn for the crazy.  The McTographer T Shirts took off, I had my “workation” in Hawaii – hosting my Iron Sharpens Iron Workshop & taking a bit of a retreat.  But as if things weren’t topsy-turvy with all the time I’ve been spending out of EPHQ and when I’m here – shooting weddings, portraits, special events for The White House Event Center and the first prom of the season – I needed to deal with good ol Uncle Sam breathing down my back.  Yes, you read that right, Uncle Sam wearing his IRS hat.

The week of Christmas 2009, Katherine & I received letters from the IRS that we were being audited.  Merry Christmas – huh!!  Well as it turned out our previous tax preparer really did a number on my 2008 return (which since I’m not a professional tax preparer, I didn’t see or catch), thus triggering the IRS to come do it’s shake down of Katherine and I.  This has led us to spending countless hours and thousands of dollars on a new tax preparer and his paralegal helping us repair what the previous preparer messed up.  We’re nearing the end of shakedown and we’re hoping and praying to come out of it without any broken knee caps or fingers cut off.

At first, I was truly mortified and embarrassed to share this with you as I felt like a common criminal, but over the past 4 months, I’ve been coming to grips with it.  That it’s my old tax preparer’s fault for the errors and that I just needed to chalk it up to a really Really REALLY expensive learning experience.  One that I hope I NEVER have to go through again too.

So that’s basically it.  Lots of shooting, T Shirts, travel, teaching and a gnarly learning experience.  I really want to thank you so much for your kindness and patience with my blogging and I’ll be doing my best to get back on track.

PLUS I have like 5 weddings, my workshop, video testimonials, my iPhonography from Hawaii and so much more that has happened over the past month 1/2 that I want to share with you.  So stay tuned & have a super rest of your Baby Friday – cheers!

PS, I’d like to send a shout out to my friend & fellow shooter; Scott Jarvie for capturing the really cool portrait of me at the end of WPPI that I used in this posting.

  • Tamara - I’m gonna need that former Tax Dude to return to the icky part of the 80’s for a visit with Grace Jones…when she’s angry

  • David Esquire - I like the way you’re thinking! Need to break out the Demolition Man on him. Muah Hah Hah!

So when you combine a totally goth look with bleach blonde hair along with a trip down memory lane + One HUGE 80’s Music Fan Wedding Photographer with an electronic taste in music – it will give you what I think the most diverse West Coast Wednesday Videos Of The Week.

My Mac Pro recently had it’s optical drive replaced after tolerating it being down for about a year.  So now that I have it replaced along with a replacement hard drive in it for more space for my music to put on my iPod (my previous drive that was installed when the Mac Pro came out was a 250GB – PUNY!), I’m able to copy so much more of the best music ever to take with me in Rio.

While I’ve been going through all of my favourite CDs and thinking about the Concert that I’ve been waiting for what seems like forever to go to next Wednesday at the El Rey…. GARY NUMAN – I just have to share not one, not two – but THREE of my favourite songs from the 80’s.

The first song is by a band that I absolutely loved and still totally love listening to; T’Pau.  The band T’Pau formed in 1986, taking their name from a Vulcan priestess by the same name in the Star Trek universe. And if you bumped into me in the late 80’s in Kansas City, you would have seen me with my old friend; Lori that looked like T’Pau’s lead singer; Carol Decker (out of England of course!).

Their debut single and first hit was the 1987 release “Heart and Soul“. Initially a flop in the UK, it first became a hit in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, reaching #4 after being featured on a Pepe Jeans advertisement; it repeated the feat in the UK Singles Chart some months later. The following year, the band had their biggest hit with the ballad, “China in Your Hand“, which spent five weeks at Number 1 in the UK chart, and also claimed the top slot in several European countries, although oddly the song made little impact on the Billboard Hot 100.

For T’Pau’s West Coast Wednesday Videos, I’m going with both Heart & Soul and Valentine.  Valentine is truly one of my favourite songs in my life & is currently stirring up things in my creative soul.

The other band that I want to share with you is one that I saw in Kansas City back in 1988.  A totally funky, eclectic and synth band that I regularly play at EPHQ & they’re known for alternate names such as; InSoc and InfoSoc.  If you haven’t guessed them yet, they are; Information Society.

Information Society is a U.S. band originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, primarily consisting of Kurt Larson (aka Kurt Valaquen/Kurt Harland), Paul Robb, and James Cassidy; the latter two reconvened the band in 2006, initially with Christopher Anton as lead vocalist, then with Harland rejoining them as lead vocalist in 2007.

Their breakout hit was 1988’s “What’s on Your Mind (Pure Energy)“, a dance/ synthpop hit which included a sample of Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) from Star Trek, saying “pure energy,” and opened with a sample of Dr. McCoy (DeForest Kelley), also from Star Trek, saying, “It’s worked so far, but we’re not out yet!” They are known for their loyal fan base in Brazil, Japan, Spain and Mexico. Information Society became part of the American response to the Second British Invasion.

The song that I’m going with is of similar introspectiveness as Valentine by T’Pau and it’s called Repetition.  I remember when they played that song live – it was truly surreal watching the entire theatre rolling with the beats and melodies.

But before I present you with this week’s features of my West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week and you’re thinking… Hey – I’d really like to get to know this 80’s Music Orange County Wedding Photographer in Huntington Beach, California, feel free to Contact Me or send me an email direct at david@esquirephotography.com.  You can also stay in touch with me in “real time” on Twitter, Facebook and my Facebook Fan Page too.

So without further ado, I give you T’Pau and Information Society’s West Coast Wednesday Videos Of The Week.  And, don’t just have an awesome West Coast Wednesday, but make it a positive one for someone else too – cheers!

Good morning from Huntington Beach, California everyone!  I’m going to brave the day and start it with sharing this week’s West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week with you before I reach for my morning cup of legal addictive stimulants.  Yes, you read that right & it sounds almost illegal as I typed it!

You probably already know that I’m leaving this Friday for my Iron Sharpens Iron Workshop that I’m teaching in Hawaii next Monday and in the spirit of Hawaii – I could only think of one song from an artist that is no longer with us.  The song is “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” by Brother IZ.  I absolutely love the song as it is of hope and that your dreams can come true.  Somewhat similar to “Ordinary World” by Duran Duran and so many other beautiful songs that are a part of my life.

But before I present you with this week’s West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week and you’re thinking… Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer that is doing a workshop in Hawaii, feel free to Contact Me or send me an email direct at david@esquirephotography.com.  You can also stay in touch with me in “real time” on Twitter, Facebook and my Facebook Fan Page too.

So without further ado, I give you Moby’s West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week.  And, don’t just have an awesome West Coast Wednesday, but make it a positive one for someone else too – cheers!

PS, stay tuned for the summer workshop dates here in Southern California.  I’m really excited to share some fantastic ideas with you – cheers!
