Good Morning Everyone! I wanted to give you an update from the beautiful Las Vegas Strip. I left my office in Huntington Beach to pick up Kerry at his location in Irvine and we finally hit the road at 6:00 p.m. for the adventure to WPPI.

It took us a little longer to get to Las Vegas, but I’m thankful that we got in when we did – because the pass through the mountains got shut down with the snowstorm that rolled in. But we did start to see some light flurries as we drove through – so we were probably at the beginning of what was on the way. For all those that were behind us – we hope you weren’t stuck too long!

If you’re in town, look for us along with the other 15,000 photographers or you can get in touch with me through Twitter. Also, I’ll be shooting for Pictage on Tuesday, so make sure you’re coiffe is ready to go in case you’re spotted in the wild at the WPPI conference

We’ll be heading out shortly for our 2 Engagements Shoots, but here’s a quick video of our road trip to Sin City. Have a great weekend & I’ll see you soon – cheers!

orangeguy_wppiGood morning & happy Friday the 13th from Huntington Beach California everyone! All I have to say this morning is – Las Vegas… watch out cuz I’m heading there with Kerry for WPPI – the largest education and social gathering in the world for wedding & portrait photographers.

This is a HUGE trade show and is full of seminars, workshops, meet-ups (or “social events” as I like to call them, wink wink!), and tons of things to do and see.

We will be doing daily coverage from the show and keep everyone informed of all the cool things that are going on and new products that are getting announced there.

You can bet we will be doing our best to get lots of cool things to give away to our readers and listeners of the podcast on Camera Dojo – so stay tuned all next week for updates!

Also! I’ll be catching up with two awesome couples on Saturday that I’m doing their Engagement Shoots for – so stay tuned for some killer artistic and new romantic portraits!

Good morning everyone! This week I have a totally special West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week for you.  As I’m siting here in my Ugg boots, sweat pants & a London sweatshirt (Of course!) in the Huntington Beach office (sipping on my morning dose of legal addictive stimulants from Starbucks down the street of course!) freezing with this crazy weather we’re having, and then I thought hey…

I’m leaving for Las Vegas this week for the largest super fabulous spectacular get together with the biggest gathering of wedding & portrait photographers in the world.  This is otherwise known as the WPPI Conference and there will be somewhere between 12,000 & 15,000 photographers for this little soiree.

So with all that said, I thought it would be fun to do some classic Rat Pack and I found a little tune by “Blue Eyes” – Frank Sinatra back in the day performing some Las Vegas Swagger.

Check it out & if you’re going to WPPI, be sure to stay in touch, I’m looking forward to see everyone – cheers!

jasonkieferpictageGood Morning Everyone! Have we got a treat for you coming to you live from our Huntington Beach and Irvine offices in sunny Orange County (today). This week, David and Kerry chat with Jason Kiefer, the CEO of Pictage, to discuss how photographers can maximize their client relationships and studio operations.

Jason gives some great tips to wedding photographers for getting to know as many of the people at a wedding personally that will help the photographer not only shoot more for the client’s wants but how to provide the right products that match the client’s needs.

Jason is also giving away a 1 year membership (or extension to existing members) to a lucky listener of the podcast. To enter the contest, you have to go to http://pictage.com/blog, locate the post about photographer Joanne Bartone, and find the song she listens to the most on her iPod. When you found it, send your answer in an email to podcast@cameradojo.com with the subject “Pictage Contest.” All entries must be in by Feb. 21 2009 to be eligible for the the drawing.

We hope you’re having a great week & if you would like to subscribe to the podcast to get more of David and Kerry, click the iTunes button below.  Have a super week – cheers

Good Evening Everyone! I just got back into my office in Huntington Beach from spending the day with Sara, Mike, their family & closest friends photographing their wedding at the Wedgewood in Ventura, CA. What a joy to photograph the wedding of another beautiful, fun couple. I headed up to meet Sara & Mike for their day with a fellow Fast Track Photographer; John Loyola. John and I were able to talk shop on the way up and get a feel for working together – which was very cool.

When we arrived at the Wedgewood, I met up with Sara and her ladies in the bridal preparation suite to capture soft details and natural candids while everyone was getting ready for the big day. When the rain broke for a little bit, I headed up to take Mike & his men in black to go out on the green for some sharp and cool portraits. Sara looked absolutely stunning in her gown when her mother finished lacing up the corset back of her dress and since the weather still had a break – all of us ran out to capture some beautiful wedding portraits near the green. Their ceremony was held indoors because of the random storming that was happening in Ventura – but nonetheless, was perfect indoors and nobody needed to be concerned about the rain.

After the ceremony, we raced against the clock for the portraits and once we were finished with the more traditional family portraits – Sara and Mike along with Sara’s Sister; Janet who stood in as a model all headed out for some fantastic night romantic portraits. Everyone was a trooper for the namesake of art and I was able to capture another “Stormy Romance” portrait with moonlight, storm couds and stars in the sky.  Their reception was more like Club Sara & Mike as we all partied throughout the night to everything from classic rock, hip hop and disco.

Here is a small sample of what is to come from their day and I hope you enjoy what I captured through my lens as I did spending the day with them. Cheers!
