Good Morning Everyone! We have a fantastic Wedding Tip Of The Week brought to you by our good friends over at Elegala.com. This week’s topic is perfect for the season that is upon us too. It’s all about how to plan a winter wedding.

Winter theme weddings can be uber chic and ethereal – an absolute wonderland, if you will. Read on for inspiration. When planning your winter theme weddings, there are some things to consider.

First, there can potentially be inclement weather. Depending on your wedding location, winter weather can be particularly hairy. If so, don’t force your guests to walk too far or spend considerable time outside. Dress the wedding party (including yourself) in seasonably warm attire.

Then there are the obvious – the holidays. Remember that the action-packed holiday season and higher travel costs make it potentially inconvenient for guests to attend a December or early January wedding. Book your date and spread the word early.

To keep it together, you can start with the details and here are some fantastic winter wedding Ideas:

Invitations & Stationery

  • Add a wintery motif – such as a snowflake or holly branch – to your stationery suite
  • Go white on white – and create a snowy first impression.
  • Add metallics – jazz it up with a hint of silver or gold.

Location

  • Think intimate and cozy – bed and breakfasts or inns complete with roaring fires and plush décor create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Bonus points if you can score a view overlooking a scenic winterscape.
  • Think elegant and grand – a formal hotel ballroom overlooking the city evokes a celebratory mood to match the holiday spirit.
  • Think seasonal activities – a ski lodge or mountain chalet guarantees a true winter experience and a nice getaway for your guests

Décor elements

  • Color palette
  • new-fallen snow – use whites and creams accented with silver or gold.
  • winter sparkle – ice blue or navy accented with silver
  • black tie – black is especially suited for a winter wedding when paired with white, silver or gold.
  • Go glam – deck your halls with crystal detailing for a sparkling winter effect– adorning linens and chair covers or sprinkled over table tops. The result is deliciously glam and oh so fab.
  • Liberal use of candle light – the glow will add warmth and elegance.
  • Holiday theme – decorate with potted evergreens, pine branches, wreathes, poinsettias, ornaments, bells, or twinkling white lights.

Flowers

  • Seasonal blooms – white stephanotis, poinsettia, holly, amaryllis, camellias, roses. Consult our complete list of winter wedding flowers.
  • Added interest and texture – incorporate holiday greenery or tiny crystals into your arrangements
  • Creative bouquets – instead of flowers, carry tea lights, votive candles or cascading bells
  • Tossing alternative – have your flower girl throw silver glitter or sprinkle fake snow.

Menu

  • Hearty dishes – serve heartier fare in sophisticated, creative ways – such as colorful butternut squash puree or warm pumpkin soup in ramekins or shot glasses.
  • Wintery beverages – warm guests with eggnog, spiced wine or mixed coffee drinks.

Cake

  • White on white – adorn an all white cake with marzipan snowflakes or swiss dots, or top with fresh white poinsettias or stephanotis
  • Get rich – serve a decadent chocolate cake or cheese cake with raspberry sauce/filling, and decorate with chocolate covered cherries or strawberries.
  • Top it off – use a decorative snow globe or snowflake as a seasonal topper

Attire

  • Rich fabrics – warm up to velvet, satin, brocade, and heavy silk
  • Add a layer – if your wedding dress is sleeveless or strapless, add a wrap, shrug or cape in white or in one of your wedding colors
  • Winter white – dress the wedding party, flower girl and ring bearer in winter white for a chic, clean look.
  • Black tie – formal attire at an elegant winter wedding is always a classic

Favors

  • Sip it – give decorative tins or packets of hot cocoa mix
  • Let it snow – inside mini snow globes
  • Celebrate – with splits of champagne
  • Indulge a sweet tooth – decorate sugar cookies as snowflakes, bells, or another seasonal emblem

The Getaway

  • Horse drawn sleigh – the quintessential wintertime mode of travel. For an added touch, give guests mini bells to ring as you make your exit.
  • A sled or skis – for the adventurous – be sure to dress appropriately
  • A snowmobile – another rugged, winter possibility – again, for the adventurous.

We hope you’re having a wonderful holiday season & these tips were able to lend some insight on planning your winter wedding – cheers!

Good Morning Everyone! As we wrap up a FANTASTIC 2008 season with our last wedding of the year, here is an incredible posting that we would like to share. Kerry & I just got in from a fantastic day with Genevive & Alex for their wedding. Our adventure started yesterday morning when we arrived in Carson to meet up with Genevive & her ladies and Alex and his men at two different locations.

At Genevive’s family’s home, we had pleanty of time for some good laughs and even a special guest stopped by from Disneyland too. Over at the house Alex was getting ready at, not only were they dressed and all set to go for the day, but even had time to get their “Captain on” while shooting some hoops.

Genevive & Alex’s wedding was a very traditional Catholic service held at the Nativity Catholic Church in Torrance. It was a completely opulent and gorgeous celebration of two families coming together & Genevive looked like royalty as she came down the aisle.

Immediately following the ceremony, we rounded everyone back into the church for a very fast session of formal portraits with the family & then the fun really started to kick in. We headed outside for some of our signature Artistic & Romantic portraits in front of the church and then we whisked ourselves away to brave the elements at the Seal Beach Pier. The weather was definitely intense, but everyone & I mean everyone totally stuck it out & we got some fun shots on the pier & around Seal Beach.

Once we wrapped up our shoot in Seal Beach, we headed to the Old Ranch Country Club where Genevive, Alex & their party defrosted to warm. Then we headed out yet again with Genevive and Alex onto the green for some spectacular Artistic & Romantic Portraits. They sky was so opulent and the setting was about as picture perfect as it gets.

Ms. Heather Morgan at the Old Ranch Country Club was 100% in tune with Genevive & Alex’s needs along with meeting all the needs of the guests and the vendors too. If you ever need a beautiful location for your wedding with an attentive staff, call Heather up & she will make sure you’re well taken care of.

Our great friend Albert Lopez & his partner-in-crime; Jose from Elegance Elegancia made sure that the fun ran through the entire night & we even had a world record for doing table portraits with the guests. We completed the portraits in 12 minutes for about 225 people. It was totally awesome!

Here are a few of our favourites from Genevive & Alex’s wedding day & we hope that you enjoy them as much as we did capturing them – cheers!
