Good afternoon from caffeinated HQ of Esquire Photography in Orange County everyone!

I’m one Newport Beach Wedding Photographer back from London who’s been putting the finishing touches on the photos I captured while in London, England for my Workshop & then in Berlin, Germany after my meeting with Christin & Christoph for their wedding in Germany next year to share today’s MEGA West Coast Wednesday Wedding Tip Of The Week.

As I’m sure you’ve seen on Twitter & Facebook I love being able to help brides & grooms save time, money, and their sanity planning a wedding and I think today’s wedding tips from celebrity wedding planner; Colin Cowie will be totally inspiring and help you Make The Most Out Of Your Wedding Day.

So for today’s wedding tip, I have some great advice shared by celebrity wedding planner; Colin Cowie who was recently interviewed by the super talented writer; Anne Chertoff on Huffington Post on how to throw a Celebrity-level wedding on pretty much any type of budget.  True, planning a wedding can seem like an overwhelming task and really scary on the wallet.  But with the right information, I believe it’s going to be a lot easier and more affordable than you think.

Check this out!

Celebrity weddings fill the pages of tabloid magazines with fabulous wedding details, design elements and expert advice from the wedding professionals who create these magnificent settings. Over the past 25 years party planner extraordinaire Colin Cowie has designed and planned some of the most amazing parties the world has ever seen, including a number of A-list weddings. I asked Colin to share some of his expert advice on how a bride — with any size budget — can have an unforgettable wedding. Here’s what he had to say:

You’ve worked on a number of celeb weddings, what are some of your favorite details these A-list couples included?
With Alyssa Milano, we had two bouquets ready for her and she decided just before she walked down the aisle which bouquet she was going to carry.

For the wedding of celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, he baked a loaf of bread using the spices that most reminded him of his wife and it was served as a ritual during their ceremony.

What’s the #1 wedding detail that a couple should definitely include in their big day?
Rituals. I love rituals because they bring us all closer together. There is something about a group participating in a group activity that gets everyone on the same wave length and allows them to tune in spiritually together. A ritual is a great way to add meaning and personality to a ceremony.

Are celebrities toasting with champagne? And if cases of champagne aren’t in a couple’s budget, what are some affordable cocktail or bar options they should consider?
Champagne is usually the go-to beverage of choice at a reception; however, with bartenders becoming rock star mixologists the cocktail has had a remarkable comeback. One of my favorites is to set up a martini or caparinia or mojito bar and name each cocktail after each bridesmaid. The more the merrier!

For couples who can’t afford a cake by Sylvia Weinstock, what would you suggest they include in their wedding cake’s design?
There are so many ways around this one. You can purchase a simple three-tier stacked wedding cake from a baker and decorate it with fresh flowers or even sugared flowers and fruit. This is easy to do and relatively inexpensive. Clearly the idea of the cupcake is a big money saver, but you can also create a small token wedding cake and have it be the focal point of a candy or dessert bar which is a current big trend.

Do flowers have to be over the top? Are their some affordable floral decor options a couple on a budget should consider?
Flowers can be very costly, but again by being creative there are many ways to find beauty without masses of expensive flowers.

For a large table centerpiece on a budget I prefer the idea of a table scape to a single vessel filled with flowers. By taking several small different size and shaped containers that work well together, pack them abundantly with a different type of flower in each vessel. Use the most expensive in the smallest and the least expensive in the biggest. Use materials like spider mums, roses, and foliage which are not expensive and brings it alive by incorporating lots of candles. Taper candles in candlesticks, pillar candles and fill in with votive candles. For added glamor on a long banquet style table use a back-of-door mirror — you can get them at IKEA — as the base and fill in with the same ingredients for a spectacular table. You can also add small bowls of berries of fruits in between too.

After the ceremony it’s all about the party. What are your top tips on making your reception rock?
I am very good at this and one of our specialties is the energy level at a party. After the dinner is served and we are ready to rock I do several things: A change in the energy and set-list for the music to play something that everyone will relate too. Either a great standard to a fabulous current top 40 song. Make sure the lights are dim, and kick the moving lights into high gear. Pass out tray after tray of fabulous shooters. I like espresso tequila shooters since they really boost the crowd with energy. Make sure the entire bridal party is first on the dance floor to get everyone in the mood. Two hours into the dancing serve a fun midnight snack, such as grilled cheese sandwiches, mini steak and egg croissants or sliders and you’ll get another hour of dancing!

So there it is!

Good morning from Esquire Photography HQ in Orange County everyone!

As I’m soldiering through my inbox and correspondence that filled up while I was London, England for my my Workshop and then Berlin, Germany for a meeting with Christin & Christoph for their wedding next year in the countryside in Germany and who you may remember from their Portrait Shoot in Berlin earlier this year, I am excited to share with you Tiffanie & Gabe’s San Diego Wedding I recently photographed at the Fallbrook Wedgewood Golf Club.

Their gorgeous San Diego Wedding was utterly perfect.  From their romantic ceremony overflowing with tears of joy, to my Signature Romantic Portraits I photographed of Tiffanie & Gabe after the wedding ceremony & family portraits and the relaxed & fun wedding reception – their San Diego wedding was definitely an incredible day to remember.

They also had quite an amazing day of events & extras for their family & friends.  Tiffanie & Gabe had a team of flamenco dancers which put on a great show during their wedding reception, to a really emotional First Look where Tiffanie met up with both her dads & then Gabe before their wedding ceremony, to the limo provided by J & N Transportation & Limousine Service that whisked them away after an awesome sparking farewell – Tiffanie & Gabe’s San Diego Wedding was a dream come true.

I would like to say thank you to Michael, Aubree & Jessica at the Fallbrook Wedgewood Golf Club too – who led an brigade of professionals – making sure Tiffanie & Gabe’s San Diego wedding was absolutely perfect for me to photograph.  You guys totally rock!!!

I love being able to help brides & grooms save some money, but I also thought it was necessary to help my couples plan and prepare for their wedding.  Which is why I’m launching a new version of my West Coast Wednesdays.

For several years, I was sharing a lot of the music that I love to listen to and now I’m flipping the switch & will be bringing you wedding tips to help you plan & prepare for your wedding.  I’ll be searching the web for the best tips & tricks along with some sound advice shared from wedding professionals that will help you Make The Most Out Of Your Wedding Day.

So for today’s wedding tip, I have some great advice from my friends over at Wedding Tips.com on how to pick your wedding gown.  True, choosing a wedding gown can seem like an overwhelming task on your to-do list.  But with the right information, I believe it’s going to be a lot easier than you think.

Check this out!

Bridal Gown Information – Part 1

You have thought about this day for your entire life, and it’s finally about to happen. Finding the perfect wedding gown can be both challenging and pleasurable. Wedding gowns come in many styles, fabrics and price ranges. Gowns vary from simple, informal types to elaborate puffy productions with intricate beading and long trains. Below are a few thoughts to keep in mind while searching for your perfect gown.

Shopping

Searching out the ideal wedding gown can be a demanding task, because there is so much to choose from. It’s best to have some idea what you are looking for before you begin to shop. Wedding magazines are a good source of ideas

Preference

Wedding gowns are very personal and should be chosen based on your individual style preference, the type of wedding you plan to have, the place you are being married and your budget. Almost anything is acceptable – – – so remember, this is YOUR day. Do it YOUR way.

Where To Look?

There are many sources available for bridal gowns: bridal salons, discount warehouses and outlets, resale or consignment shops, and custom designers. Call these merchants in your area and find out what they have to offer. Many of the boutique bridal shops require an appointment or have limited hours. Many, but not all, bridal stores have knowledgeable sales people, who can assist in selecting the right gown for you. If your choice is a new gown, allow at least four months for fittings, manufacture and delivery. Allow extra time to guard against the possibility of something going wrong – – – for example, delay in delivery of the gown, delivery of the wrong gown, or delivery of a damaged gown, which will require repair.

Reputable Source

It is not difficult to imagine the chaos that can result if, on the appointed day for delivery of your gown, you discover that the person or firm with whom you are dealing is no longer in business. The best protection is afforded by dealing with a firm which has long been established in the community, a store with national affiliation, or a shop which has qualified as an “authorized dealer” or representative for a nationally recognized product line. The reliability of the merchant with whom you are dealing is particularly important in the field of specially manufactured wedding gowns, because a non refundable deposit is almost always required at the time the gown is ordered. A quality firm will also be able to assist you if problems are encountered in the manufacture or delivery process.

Ask Questions

Do not allow yourself to be intimidated by the salesperson who is assisting you. Feel free to ask questions about anything you are unsure of. Be sure to satisfy yourself that there are no additional or hidden costs, such as for steaming or final alterations.

Put It In Writing

Insist that all of the essential terms of your agreement with the salesperson be in writing. Do not proceed on the basis of an oral agreement or understanding. Unfortunately, should you and the salesperson later disagree on the terms of your agreement, the salesperson will have a distinct advantage in the negotiation process, since he or she holds your gown and, in all likelihood, you will not have sufficient time to make alternative arrangements, such as purchasing a gown from another shop.

So there it is!  I hope that helped you out a bit and if you’d like to chat more because you’re thinking… Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Newport Beach Wedding Photographer (Previously a Huntington Beach Wedding Photographer) for your wedding or event that loves music & fashion, photography and art, feel free to contact me anytime.
