Malibu Wedding Photography At Malibu West Beach Club
Good morning to everyone in Orange County and across the US from Esquire Photography HQ in Huntington Beach, California!  It’s Labour Day weekend & if you’re stressed out about your wedding plans – having difficulty with the mountains of tasks that seem overwhelming?

Well I received a note that has a fantastic wedding day tip from my good friends at Elegala.com and I really wanted to share with you this weekend that hopefully help your wedding day planning not seem… so… “Labourious.”  LOL!

So let’s say you’re an Orange County bride and you’re finding yourself bogged down with wedding planning & it’s really starting to take it’s toll on you and your health & beauty.  Having planned my own wedding and been to my share of weddings in Orange County, Los Angeles, and around the country, I think that this article is really creative and will help you relieve yourself of some of the stress or at least help you deal with the wedding planning.

OR!  There is the old standby that Katherine & I did, which was have a little comfort food here & there.  A few chocolate chip cookies or a scoop of yummy chocolate chip mint ice cream.  We would pick up something, go for a walk & not breathe a word of the wedding, family, or anything work related.  Just reconnect so we could have a fresh mind when we would go back to tackle the item(s) that were giving us grief.

But before I present you with this week’s wedding tip and you’re thinking… Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer in Huntington Beach, California, feel free to contact me anytime.

Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer in Huntington Beach, California that wants to enjoy life to the fullest and share a toast with his couples celebrating a phenomenal day, feel free to get in touch with me anytime.  Feel free to contact me anytime!

Malibu Wedding Photography At Malibu West Beach ClubBridal Beauty – Four Steps to Looking Radiant on Your Wedding Day

It’s your wedding day, and it’s your day to shine. Make the most of it, and start preparing a healthy beauty routine now.

With today’s busy lifestyles, women often fail to make time for their personal health and well-being. We just let it slide – after all, who has the time? Throw planning a wedding into the mix, and we have even less time. But a time crunch is no excuse to let your health and beauty routine slide.  Avoid pre-wedding burnout and maintain optimal health and beauty when you incorporate these personal wellness components into your busy lifestyle today:

Exercise Routine
Finding time to exercise can seem easier said than done when your day is full of wedding planning tasks. We know… But don’t get bogged down in this excuse – for it’s just that: an excuse. ANYONE can squeeze 20 minutes of vigorous activity into their day – yes, you! Even if it’s just some lunges in your bedroom in the morning or a brisk walk during your lunch hour, make exercise a priority in your life – akin to showering or eating. It simply MUST be done.

If these words don’t motivate you, OR you find yourself in a workout rut, consider a personal trainer. A trainer may seem indulgent at a time when you’re hoarding pennies to pay for those high-end invitations you’ve set your sights on, but it will be money well spent. A trainer will develop an exercise routine especially for you and will work with you to ensure you train safely and obtain results. Although trainers can be pricey, most will teach you routines that you can do alone. Pop for five or six sessions, then take the lessons learned on your own.

Beautiful skin is not achieved overnight. If you are feeling less than radiant, do something about it now. Assess your beauty products; make sure you are using quality skin products that are right for your skin type. Book an appointment for a facial and consult your cosmetologist for advice and tips to get your skin in shape for the wedding. If your budget and calendar can afford it, try to get a facial at least every quarter leading up to your wedding.

Don’t Forget to Eat Right!
Yes, we’ve all heard it a million times…groan. But you simply cannot expect to look and feel fabulous if you don’t properly nourish your body. It’s time to evaluate your eating habits. Diet is not the key word here… “Diet” alludes to restriction and deprivation. You don’t necessarily need to deprive yourself to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Just be aware of what you eat, and try to include as many healthy foods in your diet as you can. Read up on various foods and what nutrients they provide, but don’t force yourself to eat things you don’t like just because they are healthy. There should be enough healthy foods that you like that you can include in your daily diet.

Above all else, don’t go hungry! Hunger slows your metabolism and leads to unhealthy binges later. Banning specific food groups or food items is unnecessary; just try not to allow your calorie intake for the day exceed 2,000 (standard for a normally active woman). It’s as simple as that. So don’t fret if you indulge in a morning donut; just try to eat a healthy balance for the rest of the day.

Good morning from Huntington Beach everyone! Well if you’ve been holding your breath for my next event to go live, then I’ll just apologize now as blogging my events is definitely long overdue.  The good thing is that it’s because I’ve been spending more time behind the camera this summer than I originally planned.  So with that – thanks for your patience and I’m so excited to be able to start getting my blogging up-to-date along with making sure everyone is getting their wedding photos & albums.

So last night, I put together some delicious artist edits from Merelin & Arthur’s Malibu Wedding I had the honour of being included in at the Malibu West Beach Club.  I would like to go on record saying that Merelin & Arthur had more people at their wedding that were full of love for each other and open with having a great time that I stayed an additional 3 1/2 hours to keep on capturing all the amazing memories.

When I arrived at the Malibu West Beach Club, things were already buzzing with Christopher Adlesh from Truly Yours Catering in North Hollywood leading the staff bringing in the yummy dinner while Carrie Sawyer from CFS Design, LLC in Thousand Oaks made sure that the wedding and reception site was adorned with the bright colours for Merelin & Arthur’s wedding.

From the beginning of Merelin & Arthur’s wedding day to the end of the night when we headed out for us to rock my Signature Night Romantic portraits under the moon-lit sky, so many memories & great times happened for me to capture.  From the candid portraits when Merelin & her college ladies flashing their signs during the reception, the dreamy & romantic portraits we did after the ceremony down by on the beach and my two little princess flower girls that kept posing for me – Merelin & Arthur’s wedding day was a total photographer’s dream come true to capture.

I also want to send a special shout out to two awesome ladies at the Malibu West Beach Club.  A HUGE resounding Thank You to Ms. Maud-Ann Sunderland, the HOA-Manager and Ms. Marilyn Scott, the Events Manager.  You ladies are total rock stars!  Because of your impeccable desire for excellence and a never-ending zeal for attention to detail, Merelin & Arthur’s wedding day was perfect in every way.

So before you check out Merelin & Arthur’s wedding at the Malibu West Beach Club in you guessed it – beautiful Malibu, California and you’re thinking to yourself…  Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer in Huntington Beach, California that wants to enjoy life to the fullest and share a toast with his couples celebrating a phenomenal day, feel free to get in touch with me anytime.  Feel free to contact me anytime!

Mark McGrath Sugar Ray Shrinky Dinx Orange County Wedding Photographer

Good morning from Huntington Beach, California everyone!  If you’ve been following my Tweets & Facebook updates last week, you would have been watching how my calendar lately seems to be more than gnarly, but epic (which both Katherine & I are so totally thankful for!!!).

Within a 24 hour period last week, I went from looking forward to being able to catch up on blogging and deliverables to practically non-stop shooting with more back-to-back 21 hour days.  Now I’m sure you’re just as excited to see some of the now approaching a dozen shoots that I’m behind on as I am to share it with you.  But hey!  I’ll take a crazy calendar any day of the week than the opposite as any other small business owner would.

So… back to what happened last week.  Within 24 hours, one of my couples was asked to submit video about their wedding day for WeTV’s My Fair Wedding with David Tutera – which I gladly helped them out with.  I was asked by a an editor that I know that runs a local Laguna Beach newspaper to cover the Pageant of the Masters celebrity gala hosted by Mario Lopez along with 2nd shooting the Shrinky Dinx (Sugar Ray with lead singer; Mark McGrath) with a friend of mine.  Talk about a head-spinning situation!!!

Well needless to say, for starters – Saturday was a 21 hour day kicking off with a meeting at Mr. P’s Espresso (The BEST coffee this side of London BTW) in Huntington Beach with D’yonne & her fiance; David for their wedding in August 2012, then the Pageant of the Masters event & the shoot at the Tiki Bar in Costa Mesa for Shrinky Dinx.  I don’t have much to share just yet with you from either of the two shows, but I wanted to share a quick self portrait I did with Mark McGrath rocking our Oaks & Wayfarers after the AHMAYZEENG performance – as you can see above.

Now when I say the word; AHMAYZEENG – it is encompassing of all aspects of what I would expect from an out of control show that they put on.  Everything from a mosh pit that I was brutally abused in and loved every minute of it to get the money shots, to the killer vocals & music that kept up with the raging crown in the Tiki Bar.

I won’t tell you too much about it just yet as I don’t want to spoil the full write up I’ll do when I share the photos, but I think that the two videos that I’d like to share with you for today’s West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week will do just fine.

The first video is the promo for the Shrinky Dinx’s performance I photographed on Saturday the 28th at the Tiki Room and the next one is a killer video and song off the Lemonade & Brownies album by Sugar Ray that I totally & completely LOOOOVE.

Some of my favourite songs that are on the Lemonade & Brownies album by Sugar Ray are:

  • 10 Seconds Down
  • Iron Mic
  • Rhyme Stealer
  • Mean Machine (Everyone was bummed they didn’t play Saturday)
  • Drive By (My Favourite on the album!)

If you’re a fan of some of the new Sugar Ray & would like to see what their really amazing roots are like, I highly recommend you checking them out.  You won’t be disappointed!

But before you check out this week’s West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week and you’re thinking… Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer that will take a beating risking broken bones, bruises & camera gear to get the money shot at all costs, feel free to contact me anytime.

I’m available just about 24/7 via TwitterFacebook, the form on my contact page, or the old fashioned phone as well at 888.ESQ.PHTO (888.377.7486) or 562.225.5915.

So without further ado, I give you Sugar Ray in “Iron Mic” for the West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week and the promo video for the Shrinky Dinx show that I photographed in Costa Mesa on Saturday night.

And, don’t just have an awesome West Coast Wednesday, but make it a totally positive one for someone else too – cheers!

PS, I want to give up much thanks for my friend; Kyler for asking me if I would like to shoot the event with him and to the big man upstairs for providing the opportunity for that to happen.  As I’m sure you may know by now that I am in a sick & twisted love affair of the music industry, x-sports & fashion industry.  The raw break neck amounts of energy, the never-ending boundless and no boundaries creativity and the tolerance/acceptance for other creatives of all corners of the earth in those three industries are such a huge part of me and what I excel in.  In fact, I love it so much & miss it so much that I’ve got the itch to get back into it again!  So be prepared to see more music, fashion & sports entering my body of work in the near future.  It’s going to be a WILD ride again!!

PSS, As of this morning, I actually will have some time this week and weekend to get caught up on some blogging along with deliverables.  But anything is possible & that could change in the wink of an eye!

Laguna Beach Wedding And Engagement Photography

Happy Baby Friday from Huntington Beach everyone!  It’s Baby Friday and I have a different kind of Wedding Tip Of The Week to share with you today.

This is a fantastic bit from my good friends at Elegala.com about what to expect during the first few weeks after getting you’ve said YES.  But what’s interesting about this article though, is that it goes straight to the heart of things.  You’ve said yes & now what?  You’re now about to get as busy as Donald Trump, as shrewd as an Army General and as wedding planning savvy as David Tutera.

But!  Before you go down the path of tackling so many things, you’ll want to take some time to reflect & soak it in & prepare.  Which is why I think I really wanted to share this article with you.  To give you a moment to enjoy something pretty precious to all of us — time.

There are quite a few fantastic thoughts that are touched on in the article, but before you check out today’s Wedding Tip Of The Week and you’re thinking to yourself…  Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer in Huntington Beach, California that wants to enjoy life to the fullest, feel free to get in touch with me anytime.  Feel free to contact me anytime so we can get together over a coffee or perhaps some Nachos & Newcastles.

I’m available just about 24/7 via Twitter, Facebook, the form on my contact page, or the old fashioned phone as well at 888.ESQ.PHTO (888.377.7486) or 562.225.5915.

Have a great Baby Friday & check back very soon.  I’m a tad bit behind in blogging events as I’m spread pretty thin this summer shooting & making sure everyone’s events are getting delivered on time.  But I promise I’ll have PLEANTY to share with you soon – cheers!

Disneyland Engagement And Wedding PhotographyCongratulations! You said yes…now what?

Unfortunately, for many newly engaged women, the euphoria of finding “the one” is slightly dampened by a dose of anxiety. Engagement is one of the most significant transitions in our lives. And let’s face it, most brides-to-be have never faced such a milestone and are unsure what to expect from those first few weeks. Here are the first three emotional milestones during the early stages of engagement.

Bask and Reflect
Long before the craziness of wedding planning ensues, you should take some personal time to reflect on the significance of this milestone and mentally prepare for what’s ahead. Now’s the time to bask in the glow of newly engaged bliss, and it’s also the time to ponder any emotional anxieties about getting engaged.  You need to be prepared to shed your single self and embrace your new life as an engaged and eventually a married woman.

Prepare for the Onslaught of Questions
He just popped the question – and you’re still on “engagement high.” But the questions will start to trickle in, usually beginning with the moms. They’ll want to know dates, times, color schemes, seating charts…all while your tongue’s still tripping over the word “fiancé.”

Don’t let others stress you out just yet. When the questions begin, just let the inquiring know that you’re going to enjoy your engagement for a while before you begin making plans. Take this time to adjust to your new status, and relish these last few weeks free from the pressures of wedding planning. You’ll know when the time is right to start planning. (Just don’t wait too long; some venues book over a year in advance.) Once you’re ready, you can dive into the wedding details.

Make it a Family Affair
If your parents haven’t met yet, they should meet or at least talk soon after the engagement. Tradition dictates that the groom’s family calls and introduces themselves to the bride’s family and arranges a meeting. If the groom’s parents do not make the first introduction, then the bride’s parents should. Nowadays, who makes the first call is irrelevant; all that really matters is that the parents meet. If meeting face to face is impossible, a letter or phone call will suffice.

Now’s also the time to address any potential family issues or concerns (i.e. your family doesn’t like him, his mother and step-mom can’t stand to be in the same room…). Handle any misgivings or bad blood early on, and avert potential planning – and relationship – disasters down the road.

Above all, enjoy the first few weeks of engagement, while mentally and emotionally preparing for the exciting – albeit a bit nerve-wracking – roller coaster that lies ahead.

Duran Duran Live Universal Amphitheatre

My life with Duran Duran goes wayyyyyyy back to the 80’s.  So when I woke up this morning at 6:45 a.m. after going to bed at 3:00 a.m. it was no surprise to wake up with some music on my mind.  Except this morning, I woke up with one of the best bass lines & bridge lyrics in my head.

During this uber-busy summer that I’ve had, I actually have snuck in times here & there to chip away at the book; Wild Boy (My life in Duran Duran) on my iPad by Duran Duran’s original (and former) guitarist; Andy Taylor.  I thought I knew a lot about Duran Duran, and a lot of things I suspected about their career as rocks stars were confirmed in this book.  Like the over-indulgent lifestyles, the our of control schedules and hard work & the close relationship that the band had.

Then there was one thing that really stuck out that I had forgotten about and that is that Duran Duran is not only one of the most over-looked bands of our age, but they’re one of the most over-looked Grammy Award Winning bands of our age.  Crazy!

Combine that with the powerful and at times haunting lyrics of Simon Le Bon and I honestly don’t understand why they’re one of the most over-looked bands of our age.  To quote a really cool late night TV host; Arsenio Hall… “Things that make you go hmm…”

So the Duran Duran tune that I woke up with in my noggin is New Religion off the Rio album.  John Taylor’s bass lines on New Religion is by far one of the sickest movements for music.  He’s all over the place!  And Simon Le Bon’s haunting and sexy lyrics are so inspiring that at times I’ll find myself humming them.  In fact, I’m sharing the lyrics with you in this posting before the West Coast Wednesday Video.

But before you check out this week’s West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week and you’re thinking… Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer that is stuck in the 80’s with fashion, music and videos, feel free to contact me anytime.

I’m available just about 24/7 via TwitterFacebook, the form on my contact page, or the old fashioned phone as well at 888.ESQ.PHTO (888.377.7486) or 562.225.5915.

So without further ado, I give you Duran Duran in “New Religion” from the Sing Blue Silver video of their 1984 tour for the West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week and I’m sure you guessed who the photo is above.  It’s Simon Le Bon at the Universal Amphitheatre.  I photographed them for Inline Skater Magazine back when I was shooting XSports & a lot of rock bands and that photo is truly one of my favourites.  Not to mention I think it’s married perfectly with New Religion too.

So go ahead & sit back with your favourite morning beverage, enjoy the video, sing along with the lyrics and don’t just have an awesome West Coast Wednesday for yourself – but make it a totally positive one for someone else too – cheers!

New Religion
By Duran Duran

I’ve been now sauntering
Out and down the path sometime
Come on, it takes me nowhere, which I knew
Faces everywhere pulling grins and signs in things
Telling me not there, man, it’s no go
Don’t go there boy

I need a reason
I can’t think without one now
Too much learning got to show
Call it treason
Maybe catch her, don’t know how
Too many things, too much to know

Bring my timing in, seagulls gather on the wind
Lady screaming, lady leave me out
‘Cause sometimes people stare
Coming down, electric chair
And steaming crowds they gather and they shout

Don’t know why this evil bothers me
Take another chance boy, carry the fight,
You can take him if you’re fast
So why is he trying to follow me?
Didn’t I say if you’re holding on
You’d be laughing at the last
How many reasons do they need?
I get along fine with them friends of mine
But you have to make a choice
I might just believe this time
You’re singing out of tune but the beat’s in time
And it’s us who makes the noise

I’m talking for free, I can’t stop myself,
It’s a new religion
I’ve something to see, I can’t help myself,
It’s a new religion

Okay, my reasoning might be clouded by the sun
But someone sees the departmental lie
You know this peacetime jabbing fist in stabbing knife
Only get one look before you die

Don’t know why this evil bothers me
Take another chance boy, carry the fight,
You can take him if you’re fast
So why is he trying to follow me?
Didn’t I say if you’re holding on
You’d be laughing at the last
How many reasons do they need?
I get along fine with them friends of mine
But you have to make a choice
I might just believe this time
You’re singing out of tune but the beat’s in time
And it’s us who makes the noise

I’m talking for free, I can’t stop myself,
It’s a new religion
I’ve something to see, I can’t help myself,
It’s a new religion

Gotta take pay the saints ‘n sinners
In regulation hats ‘n scarves ‘n things
Walking in formation down the lane,
They carry their cross, make a church bell ring
Army majors pull a mean cool truth,
There lying in a swimming pool
Searching for the undeniable truth that
A man is just a fool

Don’t know why this evil bothers me
Take another chance boy, carry the fight,
You can take him if you’re fast
So why is he trying to follow me?
Didn’t I say if you’re holding on
You’d be laughing at the last
How many reasons do they need?
I get along fine with them friends of mine
But you have to make a choice
I might just believe this time
You’re singing out of tune but the beat’s in time
And it’s us who makes the noise

I’m talking for free, I can’t stop myself,
It’s a new religion
I’ve something to see, I can’t help myself,
It’s a new religion
