katherine0011Good Evening Everyone!  I just got back home in Huntington Beach and can’t wait to share my evening with Katherine & her prestigious award that she just received from the State of California for her exemplary teaching.

Tonight’s Awards Banquet was held at the Rio Hondo Event Center in Downey where the State recognized Katherine for her outstanding support and service to the children of Downey through the PTA program at her school.

There were pleanty of laughs tonight as we were informed by the speaker that one of the teachers at another school “got around,” I got to joke around with Katherine’s colleague’s mum who just turned 80 on March 30th (She reminded me that I should stand up during the Pledge of Allegiance and I reminded her that she should clap for the other people receiving awards) and Katherine did her best “Blue Steel” with one of the statues (a favourite of mine!).

Here are a few snaps that I was able to take during the night and check out Katherine’s new spelling of her name – cheers!

0003Good evening from Huntington Beach everyone! If you’ve been following my Tweets & Facebook updates tonight, then you’ve been getting a taste of the incredible night that I had at the OC Wine & Food Center in Costa Mesa.

I had the honour of working with Adam, Cyrille and Staci for Tami & Scott’s Wedding and they invited me back for tonight’s event.  Let me just say that they put together a fantastic evening with an over-the-top decadent five course dinner that had the most incredible wines paired with the various entrees.

Throughout the dinner, Cyrille would tell everyone the story about the various wines along with how they were paired and the chef came out to chat with us about the different meats and ingredients that were used.  I was never really a big fan of white wines, but that was until tonight.  One of the white wine was so delicious, that you could “see” the texture, shape and colour of the wine as you drank it.  It was incredible!

If you are ever thinking of having your wedding, corporate event or party at a location, I highly encourage you to chat with my good friends at the OC Wine & Food Center in Costa Mesa.  Their attention to details, the exquisite red carpet service treatments and relaxed atmosphere is perfect for anyone.  Everyone that attended tonight’s event even received hand made thank you cards from one of the staff member’s mother – who makes boutique-styled cards for all occasions.

I even had my camera with me so I could capture a few snaps of the evening.  Here are a few of my favourites & congrats to Adam, Cyrille & Staci for a successful event – cheers!

dojopodcast-61x140Good Evening Everyone!  Tonight’s post is coming to you live straight out of one of the surfing capitals in the world – Huntington Beach.  Yeah!

In this week’s podcast, we’re taking some fantastic time out to answer letters from listeners on our podcast on iTunes.  We attempted to answer a question about the insane amount of gear that we take to weddings, but after almost 35 minutes of the two of us going on & on & on & on about it, we pretty much realized that we needed to do a post about that, it is just way too long to talk about on the show.

After we realized more than 1/2 of the podcast would be about us gabbing about our gear, we chatted about how we organize files in Lightroom, discussing our different methods of what works for us individually.  Then we reviewed how we pose people, especially in larger groups which is very common in our “biz” – not to mention how to overcome the folks that tend to blink in photos.

Then we chatted about dealing with clients and whether or not you should accept every opportunity that comes our way or if you should ever turn down work or even the more drastic – “fire” a client. Yes, you read it right – “fire” a client.  It’s very rare, but it does happen.

Click the button below to listen to or subscribe to the podcast on iTunes.  We’ve done nearly a year’s worth of podcasts – so there is pleanty of content, laughs and good times to enjoy.

Have a super week – cheers!

Good Morning Everyone!  We’re getting through some crazy weather this week in Huntington Beach and it got me to thinking about a video that I shared with you last year…

So without further ado, here is today’s West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week & have a super day – cheers!

Here’s to the crazy ones…
The misfits, the rebels, the trouble makers.
The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
They’re not fond of rules and they have no respect for the status quo.
You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilafy them.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them.
Because they change things.
The push the human race forward.
And, while some may seem them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
Because the people that are crazy enough to think they can change the world…

Are the ones who do.

“David:

I love it!!  I can’t wait until I can see them all!  Everyone by the way gave me great reviews about you.  They told me you were funny and made them smile enough to get the pictures you wanted.  Thank you sooo much!  I also have a person interested in your services and I gave her your name and number.  Thanks again!!:)
