Good evening from Huntington Beach, California everyone!  It’s Sunday night and I couldn’t wait to share Felicia & John’s wedding yesterday at the Westin in Costa Mesa, California.

Before I share Felicia & John’s wedding and you’re thinking… Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer in Huntington Beach, California. Feel free to Contact Me on the Website or send me an email direct at david@esquirephotography.com.  You can also stay in touch with me in “real time” on Twitter, Facebook and my Facebook Fan Page too.

Felicia & John’s traditional Jewish wedding and reception was held at sunset in the waterfall courtyard which was absolutely lovely with floral arrangements from Mr. Justin Cadotte at Colors of Rapture Event Floral DesignRabbi Heather Ellen Miller performed the marriage ceremony while Mike from Gould Video and I popped around in the background capturing the various angles of the wedding.

Immediately after the wedding ceremony we captured some classic and timeless portraits with their family and some fun portraits with the bridal party.  Felicia and John were even adventurous for the group portrait with the bridal party as the two of them sat on the piano in the bar while the rest of the wedding party was gathered around them.

Once we excused the bridal party, that was when the magic happened around the property for some of my Signature Artistic & Romantic portraits.  I love shooting at the Westin in Costa Mesa – there are so many little corners and spots that if  you’re not looking, you would totally miss them.

DJ Aaron from Night To Remember DJ’s kept everyone movin and groovin on the dance floor throughout the night while I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Willie Alcaraz and his team from The Westin who rolled out the red carpet in service for the guests and family.

So without further ado, here is Felicia & John’s wedding in a little slide show that I put together and I hope you had a super weekend too – cheers!

Before I share Alexandra & James’ wedding at The Wedgewood Banquet Center in Ventura, California and you’re thinking to yourself… Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer in Huntington Beach, California that shoots in the OC and in San Fernando Valley – feel free to Contact Me on the Website or send me an email direct at david@esquirephotography.com.  You can also stay in touch with me in “real time” on Twitter, Facebook and my Facebook Fan Page too.  Shoot, if you’re reading this tonight, you’ll probably catch me online right now.

You’ve probably seen other weddings that I have photographed at the Wedgewood in Ventura.  I recently photographed Callie & Mike’s Wedding a couple of weeks ago or perhaps Amanda & Mike’s Wedding back in July along with a lot of others.  Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to photograph weddings and events at various properties in Orange County, Los Angeles, the valley & other cities in the US and I must say that Sarah and her team at the Wedgewood property in Ventura definitely makes sure to roll our the red carpet in customer service.

The Wedgewood in Ventura has been a staple of excellence for over 20 years and since 1994, they’ve been awarded “Ventura County’s Best Banquet Facility.”  The location is a perfect golf course setting less than 2 miles from the ocean – which was great for Amanda & Mike’s wedding as we started at the beach & worked our way back to the Wedgewood.  Their wedding ceremony site is nestled in a rose garden surrounded by majestic palm trees and the banquet room has recently undergone a full renovation. Their banquet room has a built in fireplace, fabulous bar, and beautiful golf course views – which I tend to take advantage of quite often for my Signature Artistic, Romantic and Sexy portraits on the green.

Alexandra were originally married in Bolivia, which is where Alexandra is from and then they celebrated their marriage with an intimate wedding of their closest friends and family among floral arrangements by Passion Flowers in Ventura.  Alexandra looked beautiful in her Nina NYC Shoes and gown from California on Main (be sure to turn your volume down before clicking the link) and James was sharp as a tack as they recreated their ceremony in Bolivia.  After their ceremony, we did some classic and timeless portraits with their family & friends and then we headed out onto the green for some romantic and dreamy portraits.  Jesus and Alex from Merino Productions shot captured their day in video and The Bonfire played some terrific worship songs everyone could enjoy throughout the reception.  Their wedding day was definitely a romantic and relaxing day that everyone will remember over the years.

So without further ado, here is a little slide show that put together of Alexandra & James’ wedding which is also available on Pictage.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did capturing it & have a super Baby Friday – cheers!

0032So let’s say you’re an Orange County groom (that’s right ladies, this one is for the guys today – yeah!) putting together your guys for the wedding party.  Having planned my own wedding and been to my share of weddings in Orange County, Los Angeles, and around the country, I think that this list that was shared with me from my friends over at Elegala.com is really creative and will help you get the most out of your attendants without offending anyone or having to play favourites..

But before I present you with this week’s wedding tip and you’re thinking… Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer in Huntington Beach, California, feel free to Contact Me on the Website or send me an email direct at david@esquirephotography.com.  You can also stay in touch with me in “real time” on Twitter, Facebook and my Facebook Fan Page too.

So without further ado, here are some fantastic tips on picking your side of the wedding party & have a super Baby Friday – cheers!

0107Ever played pick-up basketball or football with a number of your best friends? Remember how hard it was to pick some and not others for your squad? Welcome to picking your groomsmen, only here, you’re not judging them on their athletic prowess.

Instead of starting with a concrete number to shoot for, it’s a much better idea to make the quick and dirty list first. Chances are, that should be your final list. But when you tack on trying to match up with the number of bridesmaids on the other side of the aisle, plus the typical “if I ask him then I have to ask him” dilemmas inherent in friends that run in the same circles, it’s not that easy. We’re here to help.

Guidelines and suggestions for choosing your groomsmen:

  • Unless you’ve got an obvious issue with them that would turn your party into a war, always include your brothers and hers as well.
  • Parties start to lose their significance above eight. Try to stick to this number as the ceiling and urge your bride to do the same.
  • Try the all-or-none idea for friends that run in the same circles so you don’t have to play favorites.
  • If you’re having an especially hard time, consider sticking just to a best man or brothers and brothers-in-law.
  • There is no rule that says the bride and groom must have an equal number of attendants. If you’ve got six best friends, and she has seven – we’re willing to best one of your guys will be only too happy to escort two ladies down the aisle.

Huntington Beach and photography aren’t playing well in the sand this morning as Huntington Beach has provided wayyyy too much fog with the city socked in.  But that’s not going to stop me from dropping four minutes and thirty six seconds of funk for this week’s West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week.

I was thinking of various photographers that I like and enjoy, and there was one photographer came to mind that a lot of people don’t know of.  But!  Most people may know him for his music and the supermodel wife that he’s married to.  If you’re not sure yet, one of his hits is “Crazy” and another more recent one is “Kiss from a rose.”  Nowwwwwwwww I’m sure you’re picking up what I’m throwin down.

This week’s West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week artist (and I’m not using that word lightly) is Seal.  I figure he’s an artist born in London (Yeah!), won THREE Grammys and has sold more then 15 million albums worldwide – that should be a pretty cool artist to feature.  Oh, and did I mention that he’s a killer (No pun intended) photographer too.  Check out his Work, it’s really smart and gives you a different perspective.

But, here’s a twist for this week’s video…. I’m not showing you Seal’s version of a video.  I’m showing you George Michael’s version of a song and it’s “Killer.”  As I was mentioning about different perspectives a paragraph ago – I thought why not do that for the video too.

So before I present you with this week’s feature of my West Coast Wednesday Video Of The Week and you’re thinking… Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer in Huntington Beach, California, feel free to Contact Me or send me an email direct at david@esquirephotography.com.  You can also stay in touch with me in “real time” on Twitter, Facebook and my Facebook Fan Page too.

So without further ado, I give you George Michael’s music video for “Killer” by Seal.  And, don’t just have an awesome West Coast Wednesday, but make it a positive one for someone else too, it’ll spark the butterfly effect – cheers!

Can I just first say that sometimes it really feels awesome getting into a groove after being sick and being able to get caught up and be uber-productive.  That’s exactly what’s going on here at Esquire Photography Headquarters in Huntington Beach over the past couple of days.  There have been so many things that I’ve been wanting to share with you and a prime example is this posting.  Last Thursday the 29th I was a guest on Gavin Seim’s Pro Photography Show Podcast.  Totally Cool!

Gavin Seim probably rings a bell for you & it’s because Kerry and I did a Podcast with Gavin Seim on Camera Dojo back in August chatting about various sales techniques that he learned about at the Wall Portrait Conference that he attended.

Well Gavin leads a very successful podcast himself and he asked me to be a guest of the “Round Table” discussion last week.  Fortunately I was able to move a few things around on the calendar & was able to be on it.  We had an open discussion about the new Canon 1D Mark IV, Vincent Laforet’s Video made with the new Canon 1D Mark IV, a couple of upper-end point & shoot cameras (The Olympus Pen E-P1, the Panasonic GF1 (I am saving up for this one, so I can be more “stealthy” on secure locations) and the Canon G11) along with a few other things.

I did have to cut out short as I needed to get back to helping Katherine prepare for her school’s annual Harvest Happenin Fundraiser (post coming soon), so I missed out on the last 1/3 or so of the program, but nonetheless – we still had some great chatting about topics that are of interest to us in the “biz.”

So if you’re about to check out the podcast and you’re thinking… Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer in Huntington Beach, California that enjoys giving back to his industry.  Feel free to Contact Me on the Website or send me an email direct at david@esquirephotography.com.  You can also stay in touch with me in “real time” on Twitter, Facebook and my Facebook Fan Page too.

Have a super week and stay in touch for some more exciting things that are coming up very soon – cheers!
