Minnesota Photographer Beastgrip ShotOniPhone The Polar RunGood evening from EPHQ and let it snow – let it snow – let it snow!

No… wait!  Let me clear that up…  Let it snow for Tony – let it snow for Tony – let it snow for Tony!

Have I got something personal, fun and totally MEGA for you tonight!  It’s my brother Tony & Diego’s promo video for the 2016 Polar Run in Minnesota.

Or, should I say, it’s a promo video for the WINNERS of the 2015 race who are going after the trophy in 2016 too!

CAN I SAY WHEW HEW!

As you’ve seen, 2016 is jamming out of the gate top speed for Esquire Photography.  I just dropped my new client: TEK Product’s 1st ever commercial that was ENTIRELY “#ShotOniPhone” with my Beastgrip.

Now – Tony asked me to donate my time to capture his fundraiser for The Polar Run, along with some of the fun he had with his friends in the garage.  If you’re not too familiar with The Polar Run, check this out:

“The rally is based on a points system. The team with the most points at the end of the rally will be named the winner.

Ways to earn points include (but are not limited to):
– Raise the most money for RMHC-UM with your team campaign.
– During the rally itself at checkpoints. See how below.
– Volunteering at RMHC-UM (option announcements will go out to teams after registration).

For the route, a series of checkpoints will be used. At each checkpoint, there will be varying levels of activities/challenges you can complete. The more difficult the task you decide to do (following the rules), the more points you will earn at that checkpoint.

Following the rally, teams will get to spend two (2) days hitting up the slopes and hanging out together.”

It’s so awesome the rally raises money for the Ronald McDonald House!  Just this year alone – The Polar Run has raised $20,000 for charity.  Which you guys know giving back to our friends, family & community is so important in today’s world.  Every little act of kindness is part of the “positive butterfly effect.”

I could totally go on & on about the guys prepping for the event, but I’ll wrap up my note & invite you to check out the MEGA video below that was entirely filmed and “#ShotOniPhone” with my BeastgripRode Video Mic Pro of the fund raiser and Tony, Diego & they’re friends making some minor (and legal) modifications to his Smurf blue Subaru Crosstrek.  Which really shows some of the fun we had this week.

Also!  Thank you Tony for asking me to do this.  It was a total honour to help you guys prepare for your weekend!  :-)

Cheers!
David Esquire

TEK Products iPhoneography Beastgrip iPhone David Esquire Photography Minnesota MinneapolisGood day from EPHQ!  Have I got a totally amazing project to share on this wild & crazy journey with you!

As you had seen not too long ago, I shared a teaser titled: “If “IT” is good enough for Bentley Motors to use “IT” for two years in a row and New Balance filmed their latest ENTIRE commercial with “IT”…”

Then “IT” “WAS” DEFINITELY good enough for me!

Like the title of that article pretty much conveyed – if Bentley Motors chooses to use “IT” for two years in a row for their Commercials AND New Balance used “IT” for their latest Commercial featuring some of the BEST pro skaters in the world including: PJ Ladd, Arto Saari, Jordan Taylor, Levi Brown, Tom Karangelov and Jack Curtin.

But this wasn’t “just” any commercial.  To quote my client’s company president: Mr. Tim Graupman after he viewed the final version of the commercial, I was able to: “… see a vague idea turned into such a strong visual presentation.”  So that should give you an idea of the blank canvas I was given, blessed with, challenged with and much more.

Back in July of 2015, I had been asked by my client to consult and help them with their social media.  When they started to see what I was able to do for them in social media, and they had seen all my other international photography & filmmaking, they wanted to meet with me to discuss the possibility of creating a commercial.

After a series of meetings, emails & a proposal back at the end of August 2015, the time came where my client approved my proposal to photograph & film their commercial.

From that day back at the end of August 2015 – came the process of writing, re-writing, story boarding, and nearly everything that you can imagine to launch this project.  I even was a hand model for a moment when our original hand model cancelled.  Can you say manicure!?!  LOL!

Plus!  During that process – I was asked to be a Co-Producer for the commercial, which for me was a shining green light allowing me to exploit my experience and knowledge to create the entire commercial from the ground up.  Can we say: WHEW HEW!

TEK Products iPhoneography Beastgrip iPhone David Esquire Photography Minnesota MinneapolisThe company is TEK Products located in Long Lake, a suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota.  If you’re not familiar with them, they have been, for more than 33 years, providing over 21,000 quality products and services to their rapidly growing customer list world-wide.  TEK continues to win awards from their customers and vendors for their customer focus, high-touch service, and technical acumen.  TEK has impressed customers enough to allow them to average double-digit growth for 20 consecutive years.  Which is nearly unheard of anywhere in today’s economy!

Here’s the part about the company that really lit up the philanthropist and educator in me…

TEK Products is also actively engaged in the community, sponsoring local schools, the Long Lake Fire Department, and different events that help raise money for MS and Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, as well as being involved in various organizations, including the Humane Society, United Way, Poor of Russia, and the Make A Wish Foundation.

Now here’s where it get’s totally MEGA!

You know I’m early adopter in technology.  From seeing the changes going on in my industry from medium format cameras to 35mm SLR cameras, to full-frame DSLRs to micro 4/3’rds to what I photograph & film the majority of my work on: mobile phones and of course: Google Glass.

From filming in 10 cities throughout England, France, Germany, Netherlands and Switzerland for the TV program filmed ENTIRELY on my Nokia Pureview 808, Nokia N8 and Nokia Lumia 1020 to filming around the USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Japan, Singapore, Germany, Netherlands and India on my current beast: the iPhone 6 Plus.  Like the latest project “The Perfect Life” featuring music by Moby & the “Mini-Movie” I did for DF Collections, a luxury sunglasses designer starring Jonny Z. from HiFi Hair and Records in downtown Minneapolis.

Well I’m sure you know where my head was when TEK Products reached out to me.  Especially when I felt vindicated in a way after seeing Bentley Motors use the iPhone for a 2nd year in a row and New Balance for their new commercial.  For me to film TEK Products’ commercial with cutting edge technology was the natural and best way to go!

Adding to my arsenal of gear to ensure I had all the best equipment ready for the commercial was a little bit of a challenge because some of it wasn’t on the market prior to the starting shoot date.

But everyone came through like a champ!

I want to give a shout out to Sean at Beastgrip first & foremost.  He was totally awesome helping me receive my Beastgrip Pro before we started filming.  What was even more crazy is he sent me my Beastgrip Pro BEFORE it was on the market.  RIGHT ON!

Then there was Lacey at Imorden.  She was super cool and her customer service freakin rocked; helping me make the best decision for a handheld camera stabilizer.  They have some of the best stabilizers in the world & I would highly encourage anyone who’s serious about buttery smooth footage to get one.

Then there was getting the brand new on the market iRig Mic-Lav from IK Multimedia.  I typically use Rode, but IK Multimedia’s new lav mic had more features, advantages & benefits – making it a no-brainer to choose them.

Combine those three key components with the usual arsenal of lights, reflectors, software, my flawless wide angle video lens from Canon and more – I was ready to rock their commercial.

WHEW!  What a totally awesome back-story!  :-)

International Photographer Minnesota MinneapolisGood evening from EPHQ.USA and have I got a totally awesome story and FILM to share with you!

Not too long ago, I was very fortunate to feature an incredible song by one of the most incredible and inspiring creative minds in the world; Moby for my work of art for “The Face Of Hunger” hosted by Brits In LA and Heifer International.

Fast forward in the blink of an eye and here I am again with another fantastic personal film to share with you.

BUT!  I must confess with you that this film actually began when I was in front of the Trier Dom in Trier, Germany filming the world’s first travel program filmed ENTIRELY on mobile phones: “Picture Me, Picture You” with one of the kindest hearts I’ve had the honour of working with: Ms. Reverend Sandra from Visions & Promises.

The piece from Trier, Germany is a very personal message from me to you.  I knew at the time my message would be shared with you but I also knew God would present the right time to give it to you.

I guess in a way, you could think of my personal message as an early Christmas present that I hope will inspire you.

The film you’re about to watch is very special to me.  As you know my heart, soul and every part of my being is in Europe and the 2nd most amazing place for me to be is at the Renaissance Faire.

I’ve been going to the Renaissance Faire as far back as I can remember as a small child.  Everything about the Faire is perfect and magical to me.  The Renaissance Faire is my 2nd home, a place where all is right in the world.  Even if for a day.

When the Minnesota Renaissance Festival kicked off in Minneapolis, I immediately made plans with Kristine to attend in full regalia with my booths from Native Earth, a properly fitted kilt from The Celtic Croft and my mask from Arts Myths.  Of course you know I brought my iPhone 6 Plus equipped with my ALM mCAM and set out to enjoy copious pints of delicious bier & cider, delicious eats like Scotch Eggs and some some of the best entertainers from around the world like my friend: MOONIE!

We were able to see the Dire Wolves from my favourite series: “The Game Of ThronesAND Kristine captured a portrait of me sitting on the Throne of Swords!  There were also the knives & fire being thrown from stage left to stage right, the duels, the back stage tours, selfies and portraits with new friends like Kristine’s dragonfly and Renaissance Pope & Reverend Dean Anderson at Our Father’s Chapel in Minnesota and chanting & dancing with nearly 500 others in the drum circle!

The 2015 Renaissance Festival season wrapped with an exciting & symbolic fire dance, and a closing ceremony for the King & Queen featuring traditional English mush and a timeless song: “I Will Survive” as featured in one of my favourite Keanu Reeves’ movies: “The Replacements.”

The Queen shared a perfect message to everyone in the closing ceremony saying: “We create love.  We create kindness.  We create the wonderment that goes on in the world.”

Shakespeare shared some powerful words as well that I could barely scribe in my phone of the i.  Lord Shakespeare stated:  “It is not the place.  It is all of you.  We.  We are the magic that brings love to our hearts.  We are the courage that brings kindness into the world.  We are such stuff that dreams are made of.”

As Kristine & I departed the gate of Renaissance Festival into the midnight blue sky, I was told a handful of words by Faire Entertainer: Karl Frederick of “The Impurity of Karl Frederick” that will echo in my soul for all eternity.  He said these few, yet powerful words about the Renaissance Festival: “I’m addicted to this place.  I could give up breathing easier.”

If the Renaissance Festival impacts you in the same way it does Karl, myself and the many others around the world, then you will know precisely how that feels.

Also!  I want to give a shout out to Moby and say THANK YOU for allowing me to license another one of my favourite songs by you for this very personal film.  Your music, your photography and your genius has been inspiring me for more than 20 years and it’s an honour to showcase this particular song in this film.  The title, lyrics and message in “The Perfect Life” is exactly how it feels to me about the Renaissance Festival.

To say the Renaissance Festival is an event that continues to hold my heart in it’s hands throughout all the years would be an understatement.

Cheers!
David Esquire

Minneapolis Minnesota Family Portrait PhotographerGood evening from EPHQ!

To quote my post on Twitter & Facebook, I have a totally caffeinated cup of cutie for you!

As I’m sure you’ve seen, I’ve been pretty busy completing the hand-retouching of several photo shoots and events in the past couple of months.  From Anna, Lee, Baby Scarlett & Mr. Timmy with Bald Thoughts for a Family Portrait Shoot ANDMinnesota Cars & Coffee hosted at the AutoMotorPlex (BOTH of which I photographed entirely with my iPhone 6 Plus & ALM mCAM!).

Plus there’s also Sheryl & Craig’s Romantic Wedding aboard The Queen Mary in Long Beach, California, Jennifer & Nathan’s Tea Ceremony & Wedding and the most recent Announcement; the decision to photograph the commercial I’m shooting for my client completely on my iPhone 6 Plus.  I mean, “If “It” Is Good Enough” for Bentley Motors & New Balance, then it’s definitely good enough for me!

WHEW!  Like I was mentioning, things have been pretty busy at EPHQ.

Well… Now I have a totally cute story to share with you & that’s my niece; Roxy’s “24 month birthday” here in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  And, yes, you read that right – “24 months.”  LOL!

But for reals…  I wanted to do a special, more inspirational project for my brother Tony & his wife Annie to show how Roxy is growing up from her first birthday to her second.  Roxy still looks like the cutest thing ever, but just one year old and a LOT more expressive and chatty!

I could go on about how awesome Roxy is, but I think you’ll see how much fun we’ve had celebrating her life with all of Tony & Annie’s friends & family in the video below.

Before you scroll down to check out the totally fun video that was photographed on BOTH my Canon DSLR for her 1st birthday party AND then shot exclusively on my iPhone 6 Plus for her 2nd birthday, and would like to chat with me about photographing your family portraits or events, feel free to contact me anytime.

PSS, The holidays are coming up and it’s the biggest time of the year for engagements.  But!  What’s great about this time of the year is my totally awesome Military Discount!  It’s the biggest in the world and I’m honoured to give back to the many men & women who have sacrificed so much for me.

And remember…
