Good morning from Huntington Beach everyone!  Well this is probably one of the biggest uber-jumbo weeks of 2010 for Esquire Photography this year.  So many things that are going on this week & I’m so excited to be experiencing it with awesome people.

You’ve heard me chatting about it & it’s finally this Friday!  Shelby and her amazing fiance’; Matt who I recently photographed for a 12 Hour Engagement Shoot in Anaheim, San Diego & Orange County are being featured on WeTV for David Tutera’s “My Fair Wedding” filmed this Friday at a secret, undisclosed location (sounds kinda like me “Super Secret Project For Brides And Grooms!”).  I did my best over the past month to trim down on the waist and I’m so excited that I’ll be on WeTV again like I was for Kim & Ken’s “Platinum Wedding” back in September 2008.  This is super super super exciting!

That’s happening, I’m shooting a lot of events every week still through the fall and… if you’ve been following my Twitter and Facebook updates – I’ve been working on the Super Secret Project that is getting ready to go live after Thanksgiving.  I can’t say much about it just yet, but it is Super Secret and it’s for Brides and Grooms.  I may share (accidentally leak) a hint here & there between now and then – so… anything is possible.  But for now, my lips are sealed.  Hee hee hee!

Not only is it Shelby & Matt’s wedding, but I also have a special event I’m shooting for Katherine on Thursday at her school, Jennifer & Nick’s wedding in Upland on Saturday (they hired me nearly THREE years ago.  What an honour!), and the icing on the cake for the week – Christina & Mike’s Halloween wedding on the Queen Mary in Long Beach.  Which will be a great way to close out one of the biggest weeks for Esquire Photography this year as I not only get to do what I love with amazing people, but I get to dress up in my Medieval Regalia Fantastica for Christina & Mike’s wedding on Halloween.  Whew Hew!!!!

So here I am and it’s West Coast Wednesday for Halloween week & I think that the best musical sensation to hit the planet ever to share with you is the absolutely amazing rock band; KISS.

If you don’t know too much about KISS, check out a pinch of their history from Wikipedia.  It’s absolutely incredible!

Kiss, usually stylized as KISS, is an American hard rock band formed in New York City in January 1973. Easily identified by its members’ face paint and flamboyant stage outfits, the group rose to prominence in the mid to late 1970s on the basis of their elaborate live performances, which featured fire breathing, blood spitting, smoking guitars, shooting rockets, levitating drum kits and pyrotechnics. Kiss has 24 gold albums to date in the United States. The band has sold more than 40 million albums in the United States of which 19 million have been certified by the RIAA, and their worldwide sales exceeds 100 million albums.

The 1973-’80 lineup of Paul Stanley (vocals and rhythm guitar), Gene Simmons (vocals and bass guitar), Ace Frehley (lead guitar and vocals), and Peter Criss (drums, percussion and vocals) is the most successful and identifiable. With their makeup and costumes, they took on the personas of comic book-style characters: Starchild (Stanley), The Demon (Simmons), Spaceman or Space Ace (Frehley), and Catman (Criss). The band explains that the fans were the ones who ultimately chose their makeup designs. Paul Stanley became the “Starchild” because of his tendency to be referred to as the “starry-eyed lover” and “hopeless romantic.” The “Demon” makeup reflected Simmons’s cynicism and dark sense of humor, as well as his affection for comic books. Ace Frehley’s “Spaceman” makeup was a reflection of his fondness for science fiction and supposedly being from another planet. Peter Criss’s “Catman” makeup was in accordance with the belief that Criss had nine lives because of his rough childhood in Brooklyn. Because of creative differences, both Criss and Frehley were out of the group by 1982. The band’s commercial fortunes had also waned considerably by that point.

If that’s not enough to wet your appetite, check this out…

I’m not just going to tease you with one of my favourite songs by KISS, not two, not three, but FOUR of my favourite songs by KISS.  I’ve been following KISS since the 70’s when I was just a kid and they’re freakin’ amazing.  In fact, I’m currently hooked on Gene Simmons’ reality program; Family Jewels.  He’s quite the genius at marketing, finding ways to network and generate business out of an idea.  Totally dedicated to not only his family, but his family’s future through his business.  A consummate entrepreneur!

But before you check out this week’s West Coast Wednesday Videos Of The Week and you’re thinking… Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer that loves the KISS, fashion, photography and art, feel free to contact me anytime.

I’m available just about 24/7 via TwitterFacebook, the form on my contact page, or the old fashioned phone as well at 888.ESQ.PHTO (888.377.7486) or 562.225.5915.

So without further ado, I give you KISS with “Wanna Rock n Roll All Night,” “Detroit Rock City,” “Shout It Out Loud,” and the video where they took their makeup off in the 80’s – “Lick It Up.”  So feel free to sit back with your favourite morning beverage, enjoy the videos, enjoy a few minutes of incredible music, vocals and live performances.

Have an awesome West Coast Wednesday and Halloween week.  Also remember to make it a totally positive West Coast Wednesday & Halloween for someone else too – cheers!

PS, Be sure to keep in touch for little clues I’ve been sharing about the Super Secret Project for Brides & Grooms.  I am just totally eager to share it with you, but so totally bound by secrecy.

Good morning Esquire Photography HQ in Huntington Beach, California!  Before I leave shortly for my beautiful bride and Guest Writer; Ashley & her amazing and cool fiance’; David for their wedding up in Monterey – I just had to share a great Wedding Tip Of The Week with you from my awesome friends at Elegala.com.  This wedding tip is about helping you chose the right music for your guests, your family & ultimately you for your wedding and reception.

I’ve had the honour of working with a TON of DJ’s around the country and having planned my own wedding at the Muckenthaler Mansion in Fullerton, where Jason Jason from Visions Entertainment exceeded every detail and neurotic need I had for our wedding – I think that this article is really creative and will help you relieve yourself of some of the stress or at least help you deal with choosing a terrific variety of music for your wedding.  Or at least help you get away from the same ol, same ol cookie cutter music that we’ve all heard at so many other weddings.

But before I present you with this week’s wedding tip and you’re thinking…  Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer in Huntington Beach, California that wants to enjoy life to the fullest and share a toast with his couples celebrating a phenomenal day, feel free to get in touch with me anytime.

I’m available just about 24/7 via Twitter, Facebook, the form on my contact page, or the old fashioned phone as well at 888.ESQ.PHTO (888.377.7486) or 562.225.5915.

And without further ado, here is the article from Elegala.com, have a super Baby Friday and I’ll see you when I get back from Ashley & David’s wedding – cheers!

I think the best weddings have romantic and beautiful ceremonies, and receptions that feel like great all-out parties. Wedding music is perhaps the most important element of making your guests go home saying, “Man, that was a fun wedding.” If you want to ensure that your guests are dancing and having fun all night long, here are my tips for great wedding music.
Variety is Key in Wedding Music

What appeals to your high school friends is not going to be exactly the same as what appeals to your business colleagues. So mix things up and play some of each. If you do it right, the guests who come to the floor for KC & the Sunshine Band will stick around for Beyonce.

Know Your Audience
In some circles, line dances like “Electric Slide” are hugely popular. Amongst my friends, it would go over like a lead balloon – that’s why I have it on my personal Do Not Play List. On the other hand, my family has a soft spot for “Copacabana”, so even though it’s cheesy, it might just be played. Bottom line, you know your friends and family better than any DJ or bandleader. If there’s a song that will really get your guests dancing, or keep them from dancing, don’t hesitate to make that known.

Ask Your Guests About Their Favorite Wedding Music
On your reply card, ask guests to name a song that will be sure to get them up and dancing. It will help guests get excited for dancing, and ensure that the wedding music appeals to a wide variety of people.

Taking Care of Older Guests
Sure, you want your friends to have a good time, but don’t ignore Grandma and Grandpa. Older guests will tend to be among the first to leave, so tailor your music selections accordingly. Towards the beginning of your reception, play more 40’s, 50’s and 60’s hits, mixed with current selections. In the last hour, you can stick to current music. Some oldies that appeal to many generations: Elvis – “Teddy Bear” or “Hound Dog”, Supremes – “You Can’t Hurry Love”, Jerry Lee Lewis – “Great Balls of Fire.”

Get the Dancing Started a Little Early
Traditionally, dancing wouldn’t start until after the cake is served. But today’s brides and grooms want to have more lively and fun wedding receptions. So they’re kicking off the dancing shortly after the main course is served. In fact, at one of the more fun wedding receptions I’ve ever been to, the dancing started as soon as the bride and groom were announced. (The only time the dancing stopped was for the toasts!)

Stack the Dance Floor
Hey, you’re the bride (or groom). You get to boss the bridal party around, at least a little bit. Careful scientific observation tells me that guests are more apt to dance when there are already people dancing. So tell the bridal party that part of their job is to dance, and to ask other people to dance. Plus, the pictures of your 20-something-year-old roommate dancing with your 80-something-year-old great uncle will be priceless.

Play the Good Wedding Music, Not the Bad Wedding Music
Even if you have a DJ, spend some time thinking about your wedding music. Put together a do not play list, and a list of songs you definitely want to hear. Then throw in some ideas that you think will get your guests on their feet. Rather than sticking to the tired and tacky “Macarena”, here are my suggestions for great wedding music:

Happy Baby Friday from Huntington Beach everyone!  It’s Baby Friday and I have a different kind of Wedding Tip Of The Week to share with you today.

This is my awesome Bride; Shelby (you might remember her & Matt for their three city/12 hour Engagement Shoot) when we were at Z Tejas last night meeting up to chat about the her big day coming up that’s being filmed next Friday for WeTV on David Tutera’s “My Fair Wedding.”

We were just chatting about various things & she started to share some of her thoughts on why an Engagement Shoot is important and other reasons why you should take the time to not only do it right for your big day, but take care of the details too.  All of which can be done without breaking the bank.  So I broke out my iPhone & Shelby let me capture her thoughts to be able to share with you.

There are quite a few fantastic thoughts that are touched on, but before you check out today’s “Baby Friday” Wedding Tip Of The Week and you’re thinking to yourself…  Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer in Huntington Beach, California that wants to enjoy life to the fullest, feel free to get in touch with me anytime.  We could meet up over a coffee drink anytime or perhaps some Nachos & Newcastles.  Yummy!

I’m available just about 24/7 via TwitterFacebook, the form on my contact page, or the old fashioned phone as well at 888.ESQ.PHTO (888.377.7486) or 562.225.5915.

Have a great Baby Friday – cheers!

Good morning from Huntington Beach everyone!  I’m about to start getting my things together to head out of Orange County tomorrow for my gorgeous bride and Guest Blog Writer; Ashley & her super easy going and way cool fiance’ David up in Monteey for their wedding Saturday – but I just had to share with you some of the yumminess that I whipped up from Carina & Tim’s wedding that I photographed in Irvine at the UCI University Club.

I had the honour of working with Carina & Tim for their wedding and it was a totally fantastic experience like their Engagement Shoot at Disneyland.  Their family & friends took me in like I was a member of their family and let me tell you, we all had a blast.  I never felt like I was the hired photographer, but more like a guest with a camera capturing their wedding day.

Everything about the style and fashion of their day was made theirs.  Carina had two dresses for her wedding day.  For the ceremony, she wore a beautiful Alfred Angelo wedding dress with Classified Shoes in pink and white leather.  Then for the reception, she altered prom dress an rocked a pair of sequined splarkly Gotta Flurt tennis shoes.  Her ladies were also in Alfred Angelo bridesmaids dresses too.  Tim and his entourage looked sharp in their black tuxes while taking it to the next level with Vans and pink shoe laces for some colour.

Their ceremony was under a crystal clear blue sky that made a terrific canopy for all the splashes of colour that they had for their wedding.  After the ceremony, we were able to have some classic portraits with the family and then some really fun portraits with the wedding party.  Once the classic portraits were done, Carina, Tim and I headed down a path near the property where I was able to capture some quiet moments between them.

My good friend; Ms. Cindy Lee – the Uber Catering Manager & Wedding Coordinator at the UCI University Club & her team of professionals made sure that every detail was of their wedding day was met from the start of the day till the last romantic kiss under the moon-lit sky when we stepped out for some of my signature Night Romantic portraits.  Plus!  I had the opportunity of working with Jason Jass from Visions Entertainment who did my wedding.  Jason’s company killllllllled it with the lighting and kept the dance floor full throughout the night.  Awesome!

So before you check out Carina & Tim’s wedding at the UCI University Club in Irvine, California and you’re thinking to yourself…  Hey – I’d really like to get to know this Orange County Wedding Photographer in Huntington Beach, California that wants to enjoy life to the fullest and capture all the infinite memories that happen throughout the day, then feel free to get in touch with me anytime.

I’m available just about 24/7 via TwitterFacebook, the form on my contact page, or the old fashioned phone as well at 888.ESQ.PHTO (888.377.7486) or 562.225.5915.

So without further ado, here is Carina & Tim’s wedding in a beautiful slide show that I put together.  I hope you’re having a great start to your weekend & their wedding is available on Pictage too if you’d like to order professional prints, canvas wraps and so much more – cheers!
