Newport Beach Photographer Los Angeles Hollywood Street PhotographerGood morning from Esquire Photography HQ everyone!  As I’m sure you’ve been keeping up on all the exciting events I’ve been sharing on Twitter & Facebook – I was invited by my friend & fellow Toscar Alumni: Gene Franklin Smith to photograph the private reception for the Malibu Playhouse in Malibu on Sunday.

ALONG WITH! I was recently chosen as a Google #GlassExplorer AND being invited to perform on stage in New York & Edinburgh, Scotland for the parody: Miserable Lesbians all the while kicking off the EPIC Military Discount Program.

Speaking of the Miserable Lesbians — I had my vocal training with Summer yesterday up in Los Angeles and because there was very little traffic (and had my Leica camera with me), I took the extra hour & did some fast street photography on Hollywood Blvd.

I wanted to share with you all the textures, signs, people & the overall transformation Hollywood has had over the year and wanted to showcase it with a little street photography.

You’ll see in the photos how Hollywood Blvd. has not only changed in some ways for the better, it’s also looking really worn, weathered and tattered & torn.  BUT!  Hollywood still draws millions of people from around the world each & every year.  Awesome!

Before you scroll down & check out the video I put together with a song from Dano Songs and you’re wanting to chat with me about a project or film you’re working on, totally feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below or contact me anytime day or night.

I’m available just about 24/7 via TwitterFacebookGoogle+, the form on my contact page, or the old fashioned phone as well at 888.ESQ.PHTO (888.377.7486) or 562.225.5915.

I hope you’re having a great week and stay tuned for more amazing events that I’m sharing from Newport Beach, all the way out to London, Paris, Germany and Switzerland.

Newport Beach Photographer Malibu PlayhouseGood afternoon from Esquire Photography HQ everyone!  As I’m sure you’ve been keeping up on all the exciting events I’ve been sharing on Twitter & Facebook; from photographing Portraits, Red Carpet Events, commercial photo shoots with celebrities, I was invited by my friend & fellow Toscar Alumni: Gene Franklin Smith to photograph the private reception for the Malibu Playhouse in Malibu on Sunday.

You may remember Gene recently invited me to photograph the Red Carpet event of the SOLD OUT play: “Blood Knot” directed by actor: Louis Gossett Jr. at the Malibu Playhouse – so to get invited back so quickly made me feel totally flattered!

Also, since Gene needed the photos processed very quickly for press & delivered last night, I rocked through the post production & cranked them out in just over six hours by 2:00 a.m.  Can you say WHEW HEW!  :-)

Since the photos are already done – I put together a fun video showcasing all the fun everyone had yesterday.  You’ll see in the photographs I captured in Malibu yesterday, everyone enjoyed the delicious hors d’oeuvres, to the wine & other beverages being shared in jelly jars to the fun everyone was having in front of the back drop from the “Blood Knot” red carpet event.

PLUS!  There was a special guest that my mother would have been honoured to have met.  The long time industry movie & TV star, comedian, writer, singer, dancer, and producer with a career spanning seven decades: Dick Van Dyke.  Now that deserves a “Wholly Nachos & Newcastles!”

PS, if you’d like to order any of the prints from the reception at the Malibu Playhouse, I have them available through Pictage.  :-)

Ok – back to some of the fun we had over the past week filming the movie: “Pepper” in and around Los Angeles.

There aren’t enough words to describe how amazing the experience was for me.  On the 2nd day of filming one of the most powerful scenes in the movie, I shared with Marc Cleary that I needed to thank him for making me cry inside while I was shooting.  The movie; “Pepper” is a totally inspiring film about love & acceptance and I know when you see it – you’ll absolutely agree.

Good afternoon from Esquire Photography HQ everyone!  While I’m prepping for the next totally amazing three days of working as a 2nd Unit Director AND Set Photographer for the film: “Pepper” – I just read a disturbing Article from Travelers Insurance about wedding vendor issues.

But first a few current events!  As I’m sure you’ve been keeping up on all the exciting events I’ve been sharing on Twitter & Facebook; from photographing Portraits, Red Carpet Events, commercial photo shoots with celebrities, I was recently chosen as a Google #GlassExplorer AND being invited to perform on stage in New York & Edinburgh, Scotland for the parody: Miserable Lesbians all the while kicking off the EPIC Military Discount Program.

Ok – back to the sad and disturbing information I wanted to share with you from Travelers Insurance.  Did you know that: “58 percent of all wedding claims related to vendor issues involve problems with the photographer.”  I personally did not know that, nor did I even think it was that high.

In today’s day & age of digital photography lending itself to a much lower entry point – nearly anyone who can buy a camera and press a button – can call themselves a “photographer.”  BUT!  It doesn’t mean they are qualified to even be a photographer.  Which is one of the biggest reasons why I encourage all my couples to enjoy some of the episodes of my program: “How To Make The Most Out Of Your Wedding Day” and screen the vendors they hire for their wedding.

Also, in all fairness of the photographers – at the end of the day it is the bride & grooms responsibility for the choice of hiring people they knew prior to the wedding day were in no way whatsoever qualified in any way to photograph their wedding.

AND!  In all fairness of the bride & groom – at the end of the day it is the “photographers” responsibility to master their craft if they want to accept payment for one of the most important days in a couple’s life.  If they do not (and believe me – I know and have seen MANY people who should NOT be photographing weddings), they’re nothing more than the dreaded McTographer that I refer to them as.

What do you think about this?  Have you experienced this or know someone that did?  If so, totally share your thoughts in the comments below or contact me anytime day or night.  I’m available just about 24/7 via TwitterFacebookGoogle+, the form on my contact page, or the old fashioned phone as well at 888.ESQ.PHTO (888.377.7486) or 562.225.5915.

I hope you’re having a great start to your weekend and stay tuned for more amazing events that I’m sharing from Newport Beach, all the way out to London, Paris, Costa Rica, Germany and Switzerland.

PS, To the next McTographer who whines & complains to me about conditions not being perfect on the day of any photo shoot – be prepared for the a lecture from me like none other.  There are NO EXCUSES whatsoever for anyone who chooses to call themselves a “professional photographer” to not be prepared for ANY AND ALL conditions.

Good morning from EPHQ everyone!  I will keep today’s mention quite brief as I believe what I’m sharing does not need to be verbose.

I recently received a note on a Video Recap I shared on my You Tube Channel about my photo shoot with professional Actor: Matt Crabtree (who I worked on the movie; “Skyfell (And I Can’t Get Up)” for The Toscars hosted by Brits in LA) from a photographer colleague that was bashing my personality.  Since I screen all my comments, it didn’t post, but nonetheless – I was surprised to receive such a harsh note from a fellow photographer.  Especially when in a creative industry – there’s an unspoken rule to encourage each other’s individuality.

At first I was disappointed, but that was fleeting and it was rapidly followed up with me putting it out on social media and my thoughts about changing who I am to appease another person’s agenda was a simple three lettered answer: “NOT.”

After I shared this experience on social media a few of my friend’s, colleague’s & client’s shared their thoughts about why people should be themselves.

As I read over the comments, it drove it home that much further that we should live our lives to our fullest and always be ourselves.  In the end, we’re going to be the best person for the job!
